No option’: Borders ’shut’ for Christmas As NSW records the state’s worst day amid the Covid-19 pandemic, experts have given a very grim forecast for the festive season. Burnet Institute CEO Brendan Crabb told ABC News Breakfast it is likely NSW residents will be stuck in their state until at least Christmas. He said it was “pretty likely” NSW would be shut off from other states and territories for months to come as a result of the state’s outbreak. “If the rest of Australia stays with the national policy of zero Covid, there is no option but to shut themselves off as best they can,” he said. “There is just every likelihood that this is going to continue until the best part of Christmas in this sort of on-off lockdown or lockdown for different regions at different levels.” so if nsw borders are shut til xmas or beyond where doest that leaves the major events planned for bathurst in november? |

As for Bathurst one would have to start thinking its all up 'that' creek without a paddle. |

I think we are way up that particular creek, without a paddle, no outboard motor, no mobile phone, no safety vest, no sunscreen or life jacket.

And the Bathurst international with no international, no interstate, and no one from more than 10km away. The Bathurst vs Kelso local Derby.
And the Bathurst 400, just ask a few of the local hoons with hotted up fords holdens and valiants do they fancy a sunday arvo fang. (actually, I would watch that) |

Agreement made between Challenge Bathurst, Bathurst Council and Supercars.... Bathurst 1000 to run first weekend in November as per the revised calendar.
https://www.speedcafe.com/2021/08/13...november-date/ Now all they have to do is get round any Covid influences. Easier said than done I suspect. |

Ironic thing is that for all the calendar shuffling, the 1000 is still quite likely to be run with few if any spectators. Sydney will be in lockdown until the end of October, and it will be at least a month after it opens up before state borders begin to open.

So the Challenge Bathurst organisers rejected the first offer of $100,000 compensation.Presumably they finished with more than that.Do they get to keep it if both events are Covid cancelled?

Cars break if they are abused and tyres fail for similar reasons, stay off the curbs and race to a pace that shouldn't break the car. Drivers seem to think curbs are part of the race track which they are not. Tactical restraint is a foreign word these days so if a Sandown race happens it will be interesting to see the approach taken.

Why would Supercheap want to be involved in sponsoring a support event for the Repco 1000? Especially as they had naming rights to the entire Bathurst International Why cheapen the 1000 by combining with a lesser event? Even if the new part-owner is ARG? |

Honestly I feel sorry for Aussies. Australia (and New Zealand) seems to be one of the few countries that still treats Covid as it was treated a year ago. While most of the world learns to live with Covid, single Covid cases scare **** out of Australian government.
Maybe it's better to cancel 2021 season and wait a few years until Covid is no longer a threat.... otherwise, forecoming seasons will be similar to current mumbo-jumbo. Shame. Gold Coast won't happen either. What will?? |
