Smokey, I should still ring Peter Rodwell and talk to him so that he knows if you are coming to train on Sunday. You wont get in if you dont talk to him. I left you his phone number in a private message.

1/2 things -

First you register with/join BMMC then you book a training session...?

Does your availability matter?

availability doesnt matter, just whenever and wherever you can. you dont need to join bmmc to marshal, just decide on wether you want to start marshalling bikes or cars then contact a club or clubs you will marshal with the most (but you dont need to join a club to marshal)

yes!!! 750 is some of the best racing around but, if you'd like to learn the basics of marshalling without having to worry about other cars coming at you, good way to start, then try Hillclimbing. You will ALWAYS be welcome and placed with an experienced marshal, just as at circuits, but will not have to worry about other cars coming at you!!!

No, you won't see overtaking but you will see fast cars up very close and have learn just what happens at an incident and how to deal with it and the driver.

Might not be your thing but until you try, you never know!!

I have to take into account the fact that I'm miles away from everything except Anglesey

Anglesey, what a track,
i have fond memories of that place,
a racer from Ipsh*t (football rivalries) dominatiung the field in a radical when the rest of the field was made up of Westfields (not the radical ones) but continuously throwing it away, happy memories.

I was just wondering if the club a marshall belonged to really matters, can you belong to more than one,
i want to m,arshall at as many meetings as possible, would i only be restricted to ones held by the club i belonged to?

No! This year I will be marshalling for at least 15 clubs, on two wheels & four (oops, mustn't forget the slidycars!); I am actually a member of two clubs. Throughout the sport, with a few exceptions, there is a serious shortage of marshals; clubs will welcome you with open arms, member or not.

Don't forget the Hillclimbs !!!!

Loton Park, Shrewsbury
Shelsley Walsh, Stourport
Prescott, Cheltenham.

All three would welcome you with open arms and at least free tea/coffee as well as a hut on each post to protect marshals should the unlikely happen and we get rained on !!

British Hillclimb Dates and Links

You'll find all the info, plus load of piccys, on this site. All courtesy of Toby Moody. You might think of him as just a commentator on the GP bikes on Eurosport but believe me, his heart lies in Hillclimbing !!

Spot on, Stu. Toby was once asked if he preferred a MotoGP or a Shelsley hill climb. His reply was "Depends who's asking - my employers or a fan"

Shelsley volunteering for is avaialable on Julian's on-line site, all are more than welcome - new marshals, old marshals, irish marshals (EP we can't bring the beer to Ireland, but you can come to the beer!)
