One entry, that should be there is from Belcar: Kuismanen Motorsport Viper driven by Pertti Kuismanen/Karl Hasenbichler/Vincent Vosse/Matti Alamäki.

To be honest Id be very suprised to see a non FIA GT runner win the Spa 24hrs this year. My money is on either the #23 BMS Ferrari, or the #2 Konrad Saleen, which has a very good line up of, Guonon, Van de Pole, Konrad and Seiler.

Will the #23 ferrari be a 550 or a 575?
I'll put my money on a Viper, but I don't know wich one it's gonna be. I'll give a prediction after the entrylist is being published. |

The ferrari's and the viper's are the only cars in the field that have proved they can win a 24 hours race (recently).
But let's not underrate the porsche's: last year third place overall in Spa and if we skip the Corvette's in the last years Le Mans ranking, they were the second gt/gts car behind the ferrari 550! |

I think now that theres 3 Saleen's in the race u cant count them out really. The Konrad Saleen has a strong line-up of Guonon, Van De Pole, Konrad and Seiler. The #1 GNM Saleen is also strong with, Erdos, Newton and one of the lead British GT drivers, Rob Balfe. The other GNM Saleen should be strong, although not quite as good though I dont think, of Chaves, Amorin, Ramos. Having said that I think the winner will be a 550.
Still the Porsches have been mentioned but we forgot one car, the #88 TMC Ferrari 360 of Mullen, Davies and Guy Smith. And although the JMB Ferrari got beaten by the #50 Freisinger Porsche last year I belive the TMC car is stronger. |

Whoops typo with regards to Balfe. For anyone wanting to read that article though here u go. http://www.crash.net/news_detail.asp...&language_id=1 Great to see that one of the British GT front runners is joining the strong GNM car.
With regards to the TMC car, yeah its had problems, but then the Freisinger #50 Freisinger Porsche hasnt been exactly bullet proof either. And the #88 TMC car still leads the NGT championship. The TMC car also had a 2 day test at the Buggati circuit recently, and as far as I am aware they had no problems. Sure they arent going into the Spa 24hrs as clear favourites but then neither is Freisinger. Both the Freisinger and TMC and single JMB Ferrari have a excellent chance of doing extremely well. And maybe one of the Emka Porsches up there too. |

Does anyone know where I can get the times for the Spa test day? (que Graham) other than DSC? I was thinking perhaps the official site www.proximus24hours.com but I cant see anything there to suggest they might be.
Oh and someone clear something up for me? All the cars that are at the test day tommorow will compete at the 24hrs of Spa I know. What Im thinking is, is it obligatry for particpants to take part in the test day? Or could there be more for the actual race? Hope that makese sense. Last edited by SALEEN S7R; 7 Jul 2003 at 21:16. |

They expect 30 cars tomorrow......but testing doesn't mean racing in the 24 Hours. Remember the Kuismanen Viper last year.
But no testing, doesn't mean no racing at the 24 hours Count at 60 cars end of july...jiehaaa Times? Maybe some of the depaddock.net members can cath a paper with some results on. |

Thanks Zandbak. Just wasnt sure if it was like the Le Mans test day. ie the cars that turn up for the test day are those of who we will see at the 24hrs of Le Mans.

Why, incidentally, do so many cars run with four drivers at Spa? Simply because they can?

I was wondering the same thing. I think some teams hire a driver who's very quick but to expensive for a whole season, and some teams simply need a driver with sponsor money.

I think its also that quite a few of the drivers that are racing at the Spa 24hrs are Gentleman drivers. And whilst they are good drivers they probably arent as fit as the top line professionals that we have in the race, so therefore if they share the driving there is less chance of them making mistakes and suffering from Exhaustion.

Accoording to the press release, there were about 90.000 people last year. That's why they hope this year they can cross the 100.000 border.

Erm no it isnt. And I think that link should be working correctly. If not visit www.proximus24hours.com click entry list and then download it, its in PDF though so it has to be downloaded.
Again, the commentator said the offical figure was over 100,000 last year, still either way it will top that this year. |

Its 62 on the list but at least one of them has announced they won't be competing.
Of particular note is the third driver in the Morgan - Jaques Lafitte!!! |
