I'm guessing that Autoweek don't pay any attention to the Embargo on the top of the press release that Adi sent out then. I did.

That's why the story on that website has tomorrow's (Feb 11) dte on it. That's when the embargo is lifted... Shoddy journalism.

Im somewhat surprised Turner (who is an occasional Mclaren-Mercedes tester) is allowed to go race one of the 'factory blessed' R8's

Puzzled

one thing I don't really get: If there's going to be a three-driver line up for Sebring and PLM why isn't Tom K. there??
I know he's with the GOH-team for LM but it's a bit strange to me that other AUDI works-drivers have seats for PLM and Sebring -but not Tom?!?

So in the LMES we have:-

Smith/Davies

McNish/Kaffer

LM

Biela & Herbet are added.

Were does Turner fit in? He has been confirmed for the LMES according to the BBC and Autosport.

It appears Turner is a deputy for Sebring and LM, but will drive in the LMES.

Is he going to be a spare driver, or is one car going to run 3 drivers?

The 7th driver pulls fuel duty ..... which means that he is strategically positioned someplace around the track with 10 litres of fuel !!!

I'm guessing Sebring clashes with the start of the DTM calendar. Isn't Tom K signed to race in that full time this season. Only let out to play in proper cars for Le Mans.

Now my accounting is about as good as that of a Hooters waitress, but my count says

Biela and Herbert - Sebring + Le Mans, in seperate cars?
A - McNish, Turner, Kaffer
B - Davies, Smith, ?

According to the Times today- McNish & Herbert "join forces" for LM.
Part of the team with Turner, Davies, Smith.
No mention of Kaffer or Biela.

The article implies that McNish and Herbert will be in the same car, although doesn't go so far as to say that.
My thoughts are that if the 2 of them are in the same car then Biela would be in the other.
Thoughts?
Wasn't Kaffer confirmed as driving?

Thanks Badger.
Turner is the reserve driver for LM and Sebring.

Oh dear. Can we try to make sense of this all?

Guy Smith and Jamie Davies are driving one car in the LMES, and will presumably stay together for Sebring and Le Mans.

My understanding was that Frank Biela would drive with them in the enduros.

Pierre Kaffer and Darren Turner were, at various times, announced as full-time drivers for Veloqx in the LMES, and so I had assumed they would pilot the second car.

Allan McNish is now announced as a full-time Veloqx driver.

Johnny Herbert will drive at Sebring and Le Mans, but Darren Turner will not, as he is the reserve driver.

So the endurance line-ups seem likely to be Smith/Davies/Biela and McNish/Kaffer/Herbert.

BUT while Turner won't be on the roster at Sebring and Le Mans, he will for the four-race LMES, for which Veloqx seem to have five drivers.

Smith/Davies and McNish/Kaffer/Turner seems the only explanation, but why three drivers in one car and two in the other?

I am, as we all are, confused.

Maybe they will get sign another driver to make it 6 , 5 doesnt make sense ..... Johnny Kane would be nice as he was the reserve driver for Bentley at LeMans last year and drove the Audi Sport UK car at Sebring too . But I also remember something about Perry McCarthy being reported as saying that he had a good shot at a LeMans win this year . Maybe that has changed to a LMES drive ?!
