I'm not saying they are perfect, but building a new car is not going to instantly fix the problem, if they don't know what is causing the problem in the first place!!!

i do - the chassis!
SBR bolted their cars to floor front to back, side to side, swung them from the roof - all to look for flex and to make the most rigid car they could, and look at their results - bar final round fines both cars in the top 4(?) with a No.1 on the door. Besides CL who is a freak, all Fords struggled. If your platform is a bowl of jelly, well.....

Most of the Holden boys do that, but FPR where in front of them last year!!!! DJR (I think....think) build they own cars as well & it is not helping them!!!

And at the end of the day penalties count & FPR still beat one of the SBR cars last year!!!

888 were also showing some good pace at the end of the year, so im expecting some good results from them this year. They have built 2 new cars in the off season and i thought SBR did as well? SBR admitted they had problems with the BA when they first tested it last year but they soon found a way around it. Wish some of the others would to.

well that brings us back to the question GTR asked - where's the money going? 888 take over a team and the effect is immediate - FPR more or less finished as they started - CL there abouts, GS higher mid pack, and DB destroying them!

SRabbit,
You make some very good points about an excellent chassis is an essential item.
If any one looks at SBR's cars in slomo, you see the suspension working so nicely and the car is so balanced.

There is obviously a chassis specialist at SBR who knows how to make it so!

the champonship win illustrates perfectly what a team that is absolutely commited can do. remember the disbelief when somehow someone found out the money Ford were giving SBR was the equivalent of change from down the back of the lounge? what has $6.5m equated to? if they were saying 'watch out here we come' then fine, but they aren't, and that concerns me as a fan of the team and it's 'main' (dare I say it?) driver.
and yes mike, ibelieve the chassis is crucial to the car, be it race or road - how many reviews in say, Motor mag, do you read where an excellent sedan gets the chop, and all of a sudden it's a dog because it's dynamics don't feel right - same engine & suspension...

Well Craigs contract is apparently up for renewal in April/ March so it will be very interesting to see if he signs for longer than 12 months,if he only goes the 12 month option I would imagine that he can drive for another entity next year as the season is starting pretty late now days

What do you want? A complete car that can have the suspension bolted in, turnkey is possible too...or just a BA shell that has a rollcage in it, and all the ancillaries can be fitted later....

Loads of options....

My thoughts exactly!!!

As i have said before- Polites should have placed him in an SBR car earlier where he would have the equipment to win, i wont be happy unless this happens- in other words an Ingall/Lowndes Team swap-then we will see fireworks !!! A wasted talent at FPV is he ! a terrible waste!

Ingall timed (and placed) his move to perfection.

One small problem though.

Peter Beehag'sorganisation won a contract to manufacture and supply Ford Falcon AU & BA racing bodyshells to Ford Motorsport customers.

These shells can be supplied in various state of readiness, from a simple assembly kit to make the whole thing yourself (ala SBR) or for teams to take almost complete packages (ala FPR)

well grimace, I read an interview with Ross Stone near the end of last season and he said they had approached Craig to be the first team he joined after they learned he was heading to Ford - Craig said yes but Nat had to tell him the bad news - she had already done the deal with Gibson for him.

Where do you get this **** from???? How could Nat have done a deal with Gibson, without Craig's signture??? And you don't think that Nat is really going to go off by herself & get Criag into a deal to race with a team, without talking to Craig first??? Come on, give me a break!!!!

Ohmygawd SRabbit really -it was Nats doings!!!

Heck when i see her at the track she always loves to see me and have a gab, now im going to have to have a very quiet word with her!!!Contract coming up for Craig eh! as though she will listen to me!
I really am a Lowndes fan and want to see him winning and he will win in Ingalls car for sure!!!

Ross wants him/Craig wants to win/only problem Ford Boss pulling the strings-ive been watching out for Polites for 6 months at the track to hammer his ears -now he is gone and we have a Yankee boss!

god this is so frustrating-so easy - yet so frustrating.

Just imagine Lowndes up the front hammering Skaifey in a QUICK SBR Falcon!!would be great for the sport! with Ambrose and Murphy etc up the front too to really add fun! Oh Lord listen to my only wish!
Skaify would even like Lowndes in SBRcar2 than Ingall.

well joe, have you ever heard Craig refer to just himself? two words I have never heard him say are 'I' or 'me' - it's ALWAYS 'us' or 'we'.
imagine the dinner conversation that night -
'hey Nat, I had a call today from Ross Stone - you know from SBsomethingorother (don't forget they were nowhere in and before 2000 when this all happened ) they want me to drive'
'well Craig, uncle Geoff called today and said Fred wants to start a team with you as the main driver, they'll contract you to Ford with 5 zeros a year, while uncle Geoff if taking a bag on money down to Fred now that has 2 commas worth in it'
where would you sign Joe?

And how is that Nat's fault exactly??????

No deal was done with anyone until Craig signed on the dotted line... of which, I assume Craig knew what he say signing!!

You where (maybe still trying to) saying that Nat went along & got Craig into this deal with Gibson without Craig even knowing... And that Craig wanted to drive at SBR, but could not because Nat had gone along & agreed to another deal.... That is what I think is bull!!! As for the rest, I have no idea what happened!!

And Craig is a married man, of course he is going to say "us" & "we" when talking about life changing decisions. I'm not married, but my parents are always saying "us" & "we".. My mum is not going to say, "I'm" going to move to Qld as that is where my new boss is & I don't care what my husband thinks, as it is not his job?????

That is all just HRT/Brock PR spin from years ago, he always uses "we" to include the team members etc, some sort of reconition of the effort put in by crew members etc,Brock does the same and so do most of the drivers now.Infact he used it before he was even married.

mmmm just before he went to the dark side
I saw Nat in the pits at Bathurst and overheard her say
"Craig hates Ford's, I hate Ford's I would devorce him before I would let him drive a Ford. I am a Holden Girl allways been one, I dont know who he is driving for yet but it wont be in a Ford"
it shows how money Talks
But if you came along and said "Psssst want to be rich all you got to say is the Niki is the best car since sliced bread"
mmmmmmm bread mmmmmm
