Adam, I was strugeling a bit with the camera and arrived rather late at the bus stop chicane... but I managed to get some shots... It crossed my mind to post this one in the diesel thread
I will send the others offline if you drop me an e-mail via our contact page. See you in June! Last edited by vandijk; 10 May 2004 at 18:44. |

Here are a couple of movies of small interest to those Group C fans from the Saturday race.
A little of the build-up The start of the race You can't quite see it, but the car that is going slow. It seemed to put the power on too much and half spun into the pit lane. They then towed it to the far end of the pits and caused a SC. The yellow Agg car seemed to lose the rear as the power went on too much on the slippery track (as NissanGTP says above). The R90C isn't in hte first movie taken with 3 minutes to go, although it qualified third. I don't remember him turning up on the grid - am I missing something here? "and here is the Jag before the crash"
It was the XJR-11 which was damaged, but the XJR-12 pictured also had problems. |

Thanks, The 12 disappeared around the same time as the SC period, so I assumed it was that.
To be fair I don't remember the 11 on Saturday, who was driving? 24h, were you there? The spray was very bad, I'm not surprised such an accident could happen. I was on track following the Nissan on Friday (which was wetter) and its tyres were throwing up so much spray that you could hardly see anything when over 300yrds behind it. The 11 was damaged in qualifying. Henry Pearman was the driver.
The 12 retired from the race on Saturday and had disappeared on Sunday. Yes, I was there. The weather was pretty awful wasn't it?! |

Oh right now I have pieced together what happened (I was a bit slow yesterday - too tired!) - it was in practice! D'oh!
Yes the weather was a little wet. It only really stopped raining on Sunday late morning. |

The weather was indeed pretty dreadful. I was running cut slicks on Friday and had wheelspin in every gear. Looked at the throttle trace after qually to find that I only actually hit full throttle once!

Is it a daft question, but what were you out in? Did you go out in the Friday morning practice too (after the chaos of signing on!). The rain didn't seem to ease much for the afternoon (we left the circuit to visit the museum). |

I was out in the Nissan GTP (the blue/red/white car, no.88). I was out in the morning briefly but mostly just sorting out niggling problems as we only got the engine off the dyno the Friday before. I did most of qualifying too but stuck it in the gravel trap towards the end as I had zero grip on the cut slicks. Bit embarrassing as I finished up 14th and I was on pole last year!
What car were you out in? |

If you went out in the second morning free practice session then you went past me on the way to Blanchimont. I looked in my mirrors of my purple* XJS and got very scared!
I guess that most (all?) of the cars out at Spa will be at Le Mans? *some say pink |

Sorry Adam but my brain mustn't be screwed on - just noticed the picture of your car at the top of the page!!
Most of the cars at Spa will be at LeMans apart from the AMR1 obviously and Dave Mercer's Spice. |

Great stuff, I look forward to see you lot again (although a shame about the missing ones).
Last I heard it was 36 entries, is that still the case? |

should still be 36. I think we gained a couple before Spa and then lost a couple again.
36 proper Group-C cars lined up on the grid a LeMans is going to look awesome. I can't wait untill it happens. |
