Yes - but the other people in the field are an important factor in winning - she's not beaten anyone of note, it would seem.

I say well done to Katherine - while her career to date is probably best described as patchy - this is a great win - as the article on crash.net says she has achieved what Sarah Fisher and Danica Patrick failed to do - and is the first female driver to win a major US open wheel event.
Lets not forget she got this drive thanks to 'negotiating' her way into a test session back at the end of last year which she was originally turned down for - that's gutsy determination in my book. And for the record, Katherine has beaten Susie at least twice In Formula Renault 2002 third round at Thruxton, Katherine finished 18th, Susie finished 24th, and in the fourth round at Silverstone, Katherine finished 17th, Susie finished 23rd |

'In Formula Renault 2002 third round at Thruxton, Katherine finished 18th, Susie finished 24th, and in the fourth round at Silverstone, Katherine finished 17th, Susie finished 23rd'
Talk about 'damning with faint praise'!!! |

Lets be honest ....all this proves is how good most drivers are and that at this level it comes downs to the car and a big amount of good luck....otherwise how else would have Luke Hines won several touring car races. Well done Katherine.....

Weird race yesterday, although there are several senior drivers in that series
Charles Zwolsman lost his qualifying time due to 'technical infringments' and had to start from the back of the grid. He ended the race on the podium with a 3rd place finish. |

Mind you, it is nice to be able to say that Katharine has led a championship that even Jacques Villeneuve failed to win... or is that damning with faint praise again? |

Of course you're right - after all hardly a week of the last 3 motorsport seasons has gone by when we haven't seen Susie on the podium.
What is it with putting Katherine's achievements down - I like Susie too and think she's a great driver and a great personality but that doesn't mean I can't recognise an historic achievement (Katherine is the first woman to win a 'major' open wheel race in the whole of the USA) when I see one. |

It is a fantastic achievement to win the race, no-one's doubting that.
All they're saying is it's not as great an achievement as beating a field of stronger drivers. |
