I think Nowland and Bontempi have confirmed their intentions to continue on their Suzukis (the name of the team escapes me, Xeng Chong or something), but we're still waiting on Renegade, Bertocchi and DFX among others, and the rumoured extra Honda teams haven't been announced either. Should be at least a 20-bike field though.

Renegade have recently said that they want Ben Bostrom, although Mark Griffis did say hes also in talks with Pierfrancesco Chili about a ride. http://www.crash.net/uk/en/news_view...d=5&nid=103295

Chili had better be on the grid somewhere, preferably on a competitive machine.

DFX have forsaken their history with Ducati due to the rising cost of their bikes. Instead they are competing with Yamaha R1's with help from Belgarda. Migeul Praia, Jose Luis Cordoso and Marco Borciani will front the three bike team.
Interesting to see the number of R1's in WSBK, considering Yamaha won't support any effort in AMA Superbike. |

Thanks for the info McLean fan. What has Cordoso ridden in the past? I recognise Praia as a backmarker in the past, but maybe he can do well on an R1.

Cardoso is your typical vaguely talented Spanish rider who cant get into GP anymore so is coming back a step to WSB and nicking a ride of someone very good, he is heavily sponsored by SPanish companies somehow as he not very good.
He was reasonable on a 250 in GP's for a while but was hopeless when he was on bigger bikes, I have a video from somehting like 94 and he must be shown crashing on that about 5 times. Imagine he woulod be about same as Sanchini,Clementi or Borciani, as for Praia, I think he should spend more time praying as he is tital and utter rot! |

B-list or not, these guys have been loyal to the championship in recent years, and given us some great racing in the midfield. It's great that there will be some top riders out there, but we want some backmarkers as well, to make for at least 20 regular bikes.

No,no,no backmarkers are only any good if they get in the way, like in BSB. There is nothing more annoying than watchin a race in SKy with say Reynolds and Rutter coming into the last lap with a gaggle of em around the track, lends itself to a climactic finish and some brilliant quotes afte the race.
Anyone remember Doohans outburst at Arakaki in Rio a few years ago, superb!! |

cardoso & praia havent been loyal to the championship - its cardoso 1st year & i hope he does suprise a few, as for praia he had a 999 in his 1st year last year and would have been just as ordinary in any national sbk championship - maybe he should have run in supersport .... would have struggled in that too

I was referring to Sanchini,Clementi or Borciani when I referred to loyal midfield runners - re-read what I wrote and that should be obvious.

Yes a German team (!) have been running a Mv in the world endurance ahspionship i think but without a lot of success.
Believe it or not they have managed to get sponsorship from Burger King! Not sure about the new bikes though are they 1000cc or still just a 750? THat might explain why there has been not much involvment by the Castiglioni brothers, they will surely race if they have a bike coz it is in their blood! |

It'd be nice to see another constructor involved, especially if the bike is reasonably competitive. I'm pretty sure the MV won a late-season race in some championship or other, so maybe they've got the gremlins out of it.

I'm pretty sure it was the F4 1000, and i'm not sure it was a factory effort...or maybe the was the wildcard race they did in the WSBK.
And also the race win in the German SBK I think fell on the same date as the last Ago win on an Mv? |

That'd be an interesting switch for Norick - MotoGP bikes don't seem to suit him and he's proabbly past his best, but he may be able to lead Yamaha forward.

hope abe does it - do you reckon teams should only be allowed to enter wsb if they have 2 bikes . or is that already the case...

What would be the logic of cutting off one-bike private entries? Manufacturers have never really been the backbone of World Superbikes, the off-the-shelf nature of some of the bikes is (to me) part of the appeal. Ten Kate may never have entered, and led to the exciting new entries for 2005, if they had to finance 2 bikes - at the very least they'd've scrapped their Sueprsport campaign to support it.
