Russfeld should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I dont see any reason to rate Duran, or any of them really. Its a case of best of a bad bunch. Its the slow decline Brit F3 has been on for a while, or maybe its just racing overall.

I think as long as the series continues to produce great racing, it's not terribly upsetting having a lower quality field.

They can't be awesome every year...very soon there'll be an explosion of talent no doubt!

Back to topic!

i think that conway will take tittle but jarvis will be in contention throughout the season, it seems like carlin have some speed in the bag and are by far the best f3 outft around however i think conway just has that little bit of experience and confidence which will help when it bolis to the crunch point.
however it wouldnt surprise me if jarvis pulls it off....

So you're vote is for Conway and Jarvis?

Jarvis and Carlin will be in contention, or so I think...Carlin are the best outfit around atm as they have more experience than, say, RR in BF3.

That's not strictly true, as the core people at Double R are ex-Carlin. It just depends how they organise themselves.

Indeed, haven't forgotten The people have the experience, but fundamentally Double R are a "new" team, which is more what I was trying to say

complete nonsense. if the staff have largely known each other and worked together for ages, and the technical knowledge especially in the formula isn't "new", then what can make a team "new"?

The fact that they entered as a brand new F3 outfit last year, so in effect, they are a new team.

that's not what suze was saying, i don't think. i think she's trying to say that just because carlins tool boxes are older and they've owned their chassis for longer, they have a better chance of winning the title...

No, I wasn't....they are a new team in effect, a new championship entrant, which is what I'm saying whether they're mainly ex Carlin or not. I'll tell you what I think ta

thats completely against the justification you were using up there, so what you were effectively saying was that carlin are better because they've filed a couple of pieces of paper for more years?

- definition of something new. Double R were a new entrant, they have less experience as a new team in F3. Carlin are an older team, whether half the Double R team are ex Carlin or not. That's self explanatory.

[edit] Carlin have done more than file paper, they've actually *won* things whilst Double R haven't been entered.

...with the engineers that now run double r. you cannot define a team on how long they have run in a series. it's the engineers that count.

who is actually behind the technical side of things at carlin f3 now?

What so you really don't call RR a new team at all? Are Super Aguri a new team in F1, even though 90% of the workforce are not new to F1? Yes. Are RR a new team in F3, even though they have many ex-F3 employees? Yes.

they're the newest, but by using new as an excuse why they won't beat carlin it's being completely ignorant to the fact that a lot of the key personnel have been working together for years. the only difference is that as i say, double r haven't filed the pieces of paper with the championship for as long as carlin. in fact, double r being set up *arguably* (i don't know if it did or it didn't, thats why i say arguably) set carlin back a couple of steps.

i still maintain that using the excuse of a team being the newest as to why they won't beat carlin is weak beyond any other. which is what was done in the first place, and i think is offensive towards the team. it's one of those off the cuff remarks that needs to be thought about before it's said.

Where has it been used as an excuse...? I haven't said they won't win - maybe reading the thread is a better idea, and you will see I myself say it'll be Conway - remind me, he drives for Double R doesn't he? Look at last season's results. You cannot deny the fact Carlin were more successful than Double R. It wasn't an off the cuff remark, it's a fact.

The definition of the word 'New', in the Concise Oxford Dictionary, actually supports the arguments of both parties. The adjective definition of 'New' is: "of recent origin or arrival", which is clearly true of RR Racing. However, when applied to persons or in a business sense, the definition of 'New' is: "inexperienced or unaccustomed", which RR Racing certainly are not. I think it's fair to say then that RR Racing are a "new" team staffed by experienced people.
