I'm not a marshal but I'll be there all 3 days so I'll keep an eye out for 10/10th badges.

If anybody is selling a ticket for Saturday I'd like to know. Will pay cash and I'd like to pick it up before the day as opposode to at the gate. Cheers.

You are aware there are no tickets for sale on the day at Goodwood?

Yeah Stephen, but if you book during this week they won't mail you a ticket, but will hold it at the gate, which is what I was referring to

If anyone gets a few minutes "Down Time", please come along to the Volunteers In Motorsports stand (shared with Goodwood Marshals Assoc.) I will be pleased to say hello and have a chat on any marshalling subjects.

Hopefully I will be able to get time to have a wander round and say "hello" to as many marshals as possible.

Have a warm, dry, safe and enjoyable weekend

Regards

At the start of this thread was a very nice photograph of Marshalls in front of straw bales. Am I wrong in thinking that car events are not allowed to use straw bales these days ?

Can't speak for any other events, but Goodwood certainly uses them to line the track. I assume this is in place of more permanent restraints for errant vehicles.

I know that they are temporary at this 'imitation hillclimb' but I thought that they had been banned by the MSA.

In our defence we were attacked first on Friday, so on Saturday we came armed. We had a great time as did the Formula 1 team vans who were lobbing bottles of water at us too, even a mobile phone at one point, but he did come back for that. All in the spirit of GFOS I believe as long as when the cars are out everyone is alert and behaving I see no issue in having a laugh with the Crews and Cheif Marshals and ..well.. anyone else silly enough to get in range.

Great weekend, loved every minute of it. Even the labourious 1.5 mile journey home.

The bales are held in place by some very sturdy posts behind them and do serve as a usefull barrier to errant vehicles as one or two single seaters found out over the weekend...

Many thanks to all on BARC rescue for putting up with me this weekend...

Saw one of the wooden posts break last year from the impact of that black Jag - but it gave just the right amount of 'give'. However, they had an extra 3 rows of hay bales there this year.

So much more aesthetically pleasing to look past than cement blocks.
