billy bigtime has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Is Moff' getting low on cash?
Why would Mick Webb have these?

he was the crew chief at the time wasn't he?

Funnily enough was only watching the 1983 Sandown Castrol 400 last weekend. There have been few better drives in an endurance race than that one.

Well the Bathurst one is Katayama's.

The Sandown one would have tobe Moffat's. 1983 was the last ime that race could be driven solo from memory

Brother Henry, so nice of you to call....

I'll find that e-bay link for you shortly, but yes, the mustachioed one, Meister Webb, clearly has a veritable Aladdin's cave of motor sport treasures....

Even more than Garry R would have.....

Any chance of an old Group C or an AUSCAR there Garry; if I give you a kiss will you say yes ??????

There's some great Moffat footage from Wanaroo in 1983 on Youtube.

Was watching some of Bathurst '83 yesterday (that's how I spend my sick days!). Moffat made mention in an interview that was pre-recorded of the upcoming Geelong 500. I didn't even know, there was a planned enduarnace race for there. Obviously it didn't go ahead, but does anyone here remember anything about it???

Those youtube links are brilliant. the third part of that clip which is not there yet, would include car 05 spinning into sand, from the pressure off Mr Moffat.

Barely remember that the Geelong race would have run along the foreshore near the yatchclub.

The Geelong 500 was a race that never went ahead.

This old eBay auction
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/PETER-BROCK-H...QQcmdZViewItem
states:

"Here's an extremely rare one for the MHDT fans, as rare as rocking horse s***. This poster was released in 1983 for the Geelong 500 street race which never went ahead. The poster says on Monday, April 4th, this man won't stop for the traffic lights on the corner of Mercer and Brougham Streets. Poster is in VGC, never hung or mounted "

The race was pencilled in for Easter 1983, was talked about as the "Monaco of Australia".

Was to be a 500 clicker as mentioned, but the drivers were allowed to run it solo if they wished, Murray Carter was one of the guys going to do it!!!

The race was put off for 1983 and scheduled for 1984, but again it never happened. It is alluded to again by John Smailes on ABC-TV at the end of their telecast of the 1984 ATCC round 1 at Sandown, mentioning that the event was now completely off.

I've got an RCN or Chequered Flag magazine with an article on the whole race kicking around somewhere, i'll dig it out and scan it

Moffat won the 1980 Australian Sports Car Championship in a Porsche 930 Turbo owned and entered by Alan Hamilton of Porsche Cars Australia.

Federation Insurance also appeared on the car as seemingly the sole sponsor.

Moffat won with one round to go from Peter Hopwood in a Lotus Elan and John Latham in another Porsche Turbo.

Remember this was the year Ford really pulled the pin on Moffat and he was trying to get the Mazda with its Peripheral Port rotary motor in to Group'C' racing.

The suit would have been from the previous year, why buy a new one when he hoped to have Mazda ones made by the end of the year

It's interesting to note also that the Gardner/Grice/Craven Mild team also tried to get the BMW 635csi homologated for the 1980 James Hardie 1000 but were turned down. They were also allowed in in 1981 along with Mazda (though they got the BMW going long before Moffat did)

Moffat was also able to re-use the suit at Bathurst, when he ran an XD backed by Federation & Camel.

..... but what suit did Moffat wear in his one-off HDT drive at Sandown i wonder?

I have a "B/W" pic from that race, from the PETER BROCK STORY (1982ish?) Moff and Brocky are hamming it up! Moff seems to have a Generic looking suit on with twin stripes down the arm/s It isnt the standard issue HDT suit. It does have a HDT/Marlboro patch sewn on the arm! I wish I could put the pic up on here I am not that clever!

For many years I had a "Roller Rocker Affair" tee shirt , the shirt was from Moffat / Molloy's anger at being denied the use of the rockers and subsequent disqualification from the events where they had been in use - mid seventies from memory !!
