I don't believe he's contracted to Walkinshaw anymore.

If there's one thing that people need to open their eyes to, is that drivers aren't necessarily aligned to a brand anymore. Call it betrayal if you will, but the badge on the front of the car isn't as important as the the team that runs it. This is what makes silly seasons in recent years a little harder to predict.

Fabs really came to prominence in the Cruikshank FG so he could pop up in a Ford, but he is definitely still a HSV ambassador.

So... when is 888 likely to be talking about how the 3rd car is going to work for them?

If all the noise is right, Mr Whincup and Mr van Gisbergen will be run in the 'primary' Red Bull-backed cars from the same pit garage.. While Mr Lowndes runs his new apparently Caltex-branded entry from the shed next door.

Wonder how Mr Lowndes feels about that? To shift from what looked for a long time was a #2 seat to arguably a #3 in the pecking order

It is interesting that 888 seems to be planning the build of 3 brand new VFs for the start of next season too..

I wonder if that planning includes a few recalculations of the design to get rid of that vibration?

If true then ouch. We all know that The Giz is pretty much Craig's successor. Remembering what he said a few years ago when he wanted to end his career with Ford. (I know later on he said he wanted to end it with Triple Eight) But a seat with Dick Johnson-Penske with his pal Ambrose?

How accurate is the report of Fabian going to Team Penske and Reynolds to BJR as reported in this week’s Auto Action. I mean we all know how AA don’t get there facts right…

Does this mean Waters moves to the Bottle-O Entry??

Who to the Tekno Entry? Pye?

Its one of any number of likely scenarios.

I'd be surprised if Mr Pye isn't at Penske again next year.

The first part is a fantasy as is the second

As if Ambrose is going to be on the grid next year.

Hope Fabs doesn't go to DJRTP, I like seeing him up the front with half a chance.

It is a massive name with resources behind it, but this year's effort has been an underwhelming false start.

There's enough promise there to get someone to move. I just wish Ambrose would declare what he's doing.

I just can't see that he has the fire in the belly to do it now, every race meeting that passes lessens the chance we'll see him in the car apart from a swansong in the enduros, where he's likely only a bit player.

of course the whole problem with that thinking is that he is racing this weekend.

Be patient. Its only september, no one expects the field to be set in September

I predict outside the top 10, complaints about car feel and testing restrictions.

AA has been busy this week, suggesting that SuperCheap is on its way to naming rights of #5 (#1?). With Pepsi Max to #6 and Enzed to #55.

Mr Coulthard to DJRTP, Mr Pye a free agent (Tekno?), Mr Reynolds to BJR, Mr Bright maybe out, Mr Moffat maybe to BJR...

Still up in the air...

Could be the silliest season in a little while if one domino goes.

I guess for now it seems Fabs could be that domino.

Supercheap have never really had a successful winning relationship with many teams so far.

Hopefully this changes for them.

Wonder if DJRTP has sponsorship lined up for 2016?

Triple Eight Race Engineering must find $6 million to keep Craig Lowndes racing in 2016

Its behind a pay wall potentially but the suggestion is that it will cost $6M to start the new team for lowndes next year including his 7 figure salary

and a new car for lowndes at bathurst this year maybe
