They still have two cars even if AER on Oreca doesn't end up being perfect match... numbers are on their side

It's bit of miracle Kolles got to FP2 considering Trummer slammed the car into barrier in FP1. Apparently the front was totally "demolished". Not that anyone was there covering it so I'm just believing what I read.
We cannot make too many performance judgments from today with all the weather and the above 'small issue', but pace still looks quite Silverstone ish FP1: 27th fastest (11L), slower than 7 LMP2s and 11 GTEs FP2: 24th fastest (7L), slower than 5 LMPs (only 6 participated) and 12 GTEs 29th fastest in maximum speed chart Anyway there where other teams doing no-times as well. And the crash prevented lots of running |

I see it looks wet at Spa, so maybe that can help them?
You have to wonder why the ACO doesn't change the date of Spa, this time of year is always going to be wet at some stage? Perhaps they can look at a track in Spain? |

Why are they running slicks on the rain? Is that picture from FP2?

Look at the rear brake air inlet. It should be cold out there. |

Impressed that Kolles had a spare front end considering they are supposedly low on budget and with it being a new part. |

Mmh They probably hadn't just put the sticker back to it's place yesterday seeing as the rear wing still featured then.

11 laps in FP3 and still absolutely nowhere, in the midst of LMP2s again. It's like watching Speedsource Lola Mazdas but in P1!
They are marginally faster than P2s on fast sectors 1 and 3, which backs up the low downforce route as prep for Le Mans, but they are lacking horribly in S2 so obviously it's not really working out as whole. The top speed is now up to 20kph faster than that of P2 lead though and also bit ahead of #9 Audi so far. But AER was never really the biggest problem last year either. They really need to work on corners. Let's see how it goes in Q, maybe they surprise us. |

So in the end Kolles managed to beat the LMP2 pole by bit less than half a second in average times, with 12,5 seconds off from overall pole and 9,2 seconds from slowest factory car.
Success... ... ? I guess it's something from Silverstone, but the upgrades haven't brought them even to the 2014 level yet. At least then they were beating P2s by several seconds in Q by the end of the season, even if Rebellion was out of reach I wish them all the well for doing what privateer P1 needs, you know participants willing to push, but this is 'Lotus LMP2' in P1 disguise. |

I dont think theyll be anywhere close to factory cars, thats the sad truth. The car needs development. It needs less weight and more downforce. Maybe that top speed will be good for Le Mans, but only against Rebellion. These guys have no hope unless every factory car crashes.

Even if every factory car crashes they wouldn't get any extra points because of lame privateer sub trophy being separate from manufacturers, and they also need to keep ahead of LMP2 leaders if they want respectable looking overall result. Which I don't think they will in race, not here at least.
Also, Klien is slow. |

Which we have done time after time again, even on this page if you look at it. But that doesn't mean we should be treating hollow performances with rose tinted glasses, it doesn't reflect well on selling the concept either if the product - the privateer sub section in question - is undesirable looking

I donno if theyre even at 850kg. Wouldnt be surprised if theyre still overweight. But at least theyre faster than the lmp2's!

In one of the early interviews/articles it was said that there was no overweight left. Or at least that they had decreased it. If the chassis really was 75 kg overweight last year, it'd only mean 25 kg reduction to meet the 850 kg - which sounds believable.
Anyway the car must turn like Frankenstein which really kills it. Would be great to see onboard to get sense of how this thing moves around on track from drivers perspective, but there is no way in hell ACO is gonna install camera into this me thinks, and team itself hasn't been known for its accessibility. |

At daylisportscar they say that ByKolles was using the new gearbox and a new front aero we saw yesterday.
http://www.dailysportscar.com/2015/0...-look-clm.html On qualy they were using a new engine cover unpainted. The handling of the car looks horrible, you could see the car almost spin going into last chicane. |

On minute 14, 15 of the race, the bykolles lmp1 officially was travelling the circuit faster than a Porsche P1, overtaking it before the eyes of the world. Go Kolles!

I just dont see the point in this effort as P1 .... they would be better off going P2 .... but thats up in the air now too with respect to the proposed new regs .

I still don't know what was the problem to leave the race. Anyway that car should be getting 2.04 or 2.05 at Spa to have a reason to exist. If they just can get the same times as the fastest P2, there is no reason to exist.

I like the project, i was hopeful at SPA there would be some improvement in the gap over the LMP2 cars, it didn't happen. Last year the car was more competitive, at points during races it was on pace of the Rebellions but now they have gone backwards.
What can they do? I dont know, i would think at Le Mans they should be easily ahead of LMP2 with the extra BHP but they cannot get the car to run without problems, its a mess. I wish they had sorted the legal issues with the P2 car and continued with that, it had some potential and was a really good looking car. |

Oh I like the project too. It's something like David vs Goliath, but I can't see how they could survive if they can't keep the car running to appear in TV. That was the only thing they have to do yesterday and they weren't able.
With Rebellion coming back and a new other team, it will become more interesting. |

The car run clearly better with the new parts but the new aero is a low downforce and low drag kit, but the car already lacks downforce and it was also evident in the slow parts of Spa. Don't know if this is the right development direction. |
