I still play the game on a regular basis. The seasonal updates are good, provided you choose the right car. If you choose an over-powered car or choose to race with considerably better updates, then it isn't much fun at all as your rivals are easy meat.

BTW, how many of you have golded the Vettel challenge?

The HP increase is just anotehr example of someone getting eh game physics and code wrong. It's really that simple I'm afraid.

Bhp increases as a new engine is run-in, and reduces with wear and tear, then you need an oil change.

Additionally, car set-up allows you to reduce bhp with a restrictor, and increase weight with ballast.

No doubt in your mind...maybe, but to me on consoles:

The best console sim is RACE Pro

The best racing game is F1 2010

The best driving game is FM4

The best car based racing/driving game on PS3 is Ferrari Challenge

The worst, most boring and disappointing release ever on any console is without a doubt GT5........it doesn't even fit into any kind of "Sim" bracket for me. Unless you want to simulate being bored to tears...thenyeah GT5 can take the best accolade for that.

Nail in the coffin for me with this, chopped in a few games recently and saw this for about 15 quid, so ended up getting it for 2 quid!

Have to say some it is very good, but the errors are just too much to warrant keeping it. The night time event in the Lambo, crazy stuff, you cant see a thing and the other cars just drive into you.

the Jeff Gordon stuff, dear God you either have to get hit from the pitlane by a car or you cant keep up with the top three at Daytona, what a pile that is, and at Indy the otehr cars simply drive round you no matter what you do, utter garbage with a joypad, maybe better with a wheel.

Not to mention the errors, huge amounts of crashes, lack of sound sometimes, boot up errors.

I gave it a try, enjoyed some of it. But really, is anyone going to ever pay for tv shows! use the photo function that obviously took months of programming, track maker is OK, but once you try it thats about it! And the Bspec stuff, Good god, why does every sodding race have to be 6 laps long! Has any otehr game designer included a whole section of game where you just watch the screen with minimal input! Unbelievable!

Good points, menus, online was very good if a little weird. Car menus and buying was good. Car mods are better, but seriously why does a 4 cylinder suddenly become a 6 noise wise after an exhaust change! This was happening in GT3 for Gods sake, just confirms what I said all along that this is a giant patch for the earlier games.

Weird little game really, just is what it was, untested, infinished and very, very over-rated. Damn shame though, but I really hope this is the nail in the coffin.

It's not perfect by a long stretch, but i enjoy it. I mostly play racing games for the social element, running in lobbies with my mates and running or competing in comps with them. The PP system sucks, making the task of building an even, fair championship a lot harder. That said, I'm running a series using the Race Modified Honda Civic Type R, which is so much fun! We had a super competitive first race, I even managed to sneak a win in the second race! Looking forward to FM4 though...

If it wasn't for GT and Forza battling the rate of development would slow considerably.

Forza 4 has upped it's graphical standards as a result of GT5.

I agree JAG, but they are coming at it from slightly different angles.

GT is trying to be a full on simulator, like a flight sim. And that is very hard to do on a console, nigh impossible due to the limitations on processor power, inputs and the like.

Forza is definately a GAME, something GT people seem to forget at times, some of the stuff in GT, though very well put together is utterly unattainable to most, the Vettel car thing, some of the NASCAR races, they are good, but very badly put together and thought out.

I dont have Forza as I dont have an Xbox, but from what I do see it's more "pickupable"

GT would sell more, be better and more fun if it moved more European, realised what tastes Americans and Europeans have and moved away from trying to appeae the secular Japanese tuning and gamers market

The big issue with GT5 was the hype. There was SO much hope, SO much over-enthusiastic posting about features etc. Not to mention the videos PD released that bore no resemblance to the actual game (458 video).
The sound is appalling, the venues bland and cardboardy and the colours cold and sanitised. I know what race circuits are like to be at both as a competitor and a spectator and GT5 carries no sense of occasion or atmosphere. The poor sound is probably the worst bit. All cars, even somethign as amazing as the Murci SV sounds like a washing machine. One of the biggest things devs can do to make a racer feel immersed in the game is have accurate sound. This is an area where Shift 2 excelled. FM3 comes close and FM4 is sounding vastly improved still but driving a GT1 Aston Martin around Zolder with the volume racked right up makes my neighbours think I'm driving th car around my living room! It sounds incredible and makes me want to race more and more and brings a smile to my face. GT5 just doesn't do that.
I like GT5 as a simulation and none can deny it's technical excellence. But as an emotive driving/racing experience that makes me want to come back again and again it falls very short of the mark.

Last night was a massive update to provide a lot of what people have been screaming for including saves during enduro races. By next week we will also see the first DLC

http://www.gtplanet.net/gt5-spec-2-0...w-tracks-more/

its only taken a year...

Can't believe they've released a racecar pack with multiple fictional GT-R's and Japanease cars.

If they really wanted to give the game a shot in the arm wouldn't you put together something like this..............

E30 M3
RS500
MkII Escort
Sport Quattro
Audi R18
Lola Aston Martin
F40LM
F1 GTR Short Tail
E92 M3 GTE
Corvette C6.R
Ferrari 458 GTE

yeah that car list is in line with PD's horrible bias towards all things Japan. The tracks are 2 nice additions tho, and it is good to see more karting options, something they failed to capitalise on in the launch.

not tried any of the new features yet but the loading scripts are significantly different. track loads immediately now, with time taken to load the cars afterwards. it means you can get on with setup etc while it still loads the rest of what it needs in the background.
