Sparklers and trumpets sticking out of the back these cars.
Like some weird Halloween orchestra on wheels. |

And we still have that stupid double points for the last race.
WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE GET RID OF IT. They did sweet #£<!< all about cost saving as well. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/114551 |

I'd rather have full blown rolling starts for every GP. racing isn't about cars stopping to start.

I wasn't actually aware that the F1 cars didn't sparkle until they starting talking about 'bringing back' the sparks.
On that subject, I'd be none the wiser about the noise issue either if they didn't start going on about the need to ramp up the noise. I'm talking as someone who attends a GP once every year or two which is probably about representative of the frequency the average GP attendee attends a race. |

They are coming up with stupid little rule changes that avoid the fundamental problems it reminds me of when Rome burns.
The cost saving measures are not cost saving they just stop teams doing something and the rich teams will find some other means to spend money to make cars go faster as has always been the case. I fear double points could make farce out of the championship final. The other part is the winner of Abu Dhabi getting double the points for winning at Monaco, SPa or Suzuka just does not do those venues justice. |

Standing restarts will create more crashe... ...I mean excitement. With F1's plummeting global viewing figures and financial crisis the FIA and Bernie are looking for just about any band-aid they can find.

Double file rolling restarts, that's the way to go and only on street circuits; Monaco would be awesome.

If they would at least bunch up for restarts like Indycar does I think it would be an improvement.
As it is now, by the time the cars cross the line for restarts, there is usually a second or 2 between each position. |

Standing restarts are okay, but my issue is that we'll likely get 5 laps of racing during the entire Monaco Grand Prix. But it should give us a good contrast of a race start WITH Maldonado and a race start WITHOUT Maldonado at least 3 times during the 2015 season, if Maldonado is indeed on the grid.

Standing restarts:
If I understand the procedure, the safety car is to pull in and then drivers take the grid positions with an immediate green light sequence (as in the start of the race at the end of the formation lap).... a: Given they will be forming onto the grid under yellow flags until the lights go green, how do the Marshals indicate a stalled car, or how does Whiting indicate an aborted start for any other reason? b: It's raining and the race started behind the safety car because its too dangerous for a standing start? The safety car comes in because it's now judged safe enough to race... does the safety car have to stay out until it's safe to do a standing start? c: the incident which caused the safety car has bumped oil all over one of the grid slots on the main straight. How fair on the driver in that position who then has to do a standing start knee deep in oil dry? Someone really does need to sit down and actually think this through. |

How about it's a new proposal and thus subject to all that kind of discussion?? Did they say we are starting this right now??

It's allegedly been agreed by the teams and Bernie, and will go before the next WMC for rubber stamping. That rubber stamp means it will happen next season.

The standing re-start rule will be at the racing directors (Charlie Whiting) discretion. So not compulsory for every re-start.

That's even worse. So if we have a boring Merc 1-2 Whiting will put in a standing re-start to spice up the race, otherwise a normal flying start? That's WWE-tier tampering of the race.

Is what you are looking for?
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/114529 Also Lauda, Vettel and Brundle have added their questions to the restart procedure. It seems like this one was a great idea at the time but nobody thought it through at th F1 commission meeting. http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns28301.html Last edited by wolfhound; 22 Jun 2014 at 08:31. |

These guys are really starting to get into the realm of some of Australia's (And I assume the World's) court judges. Making decisions and verdicts that have no basis in reailty, that leave people wondering what planet these guys live on.

standing restarts
you are getting this all wrong: the standing restart WILL HAVE TO BE DONE IN REVERSE GEAR !! each driver to compete ONE FULL LAP IN REVERSE against the normal direction of the circuit after crossing the finish line, drivers are allowed to select all forward gear again. race distance remains unaltered, meaning that the reverse lap counts towards distance travelled this is all beeing done to improve "The Show". in time the fans will understand and approve Rudolf |
