Hey, give these a look:
http://schleizer-dreieck.de/sdr/imag..._parkplatz.gif http://www.research-racing.de/Schleiz1.htm I think I found Germany's new second-best race track (since Hockenheim's been destroyed). |

They're both the same.
There is a similar track called Rennstreke Solitude, you can play it on GPL, but unfortunately, that no longer exists |

Actually, most of Solitude's still around. It's a 7-mile loop of public highways near Stuttgart. A few pieces have been dug up, but it's nothing a paving crew couldn't fix in 2 weeks. Safety standards on these old roads are, well, nonexistant, and it doesn't seem like the local government is interested in racing on the circuit.
Give the slide show here a click, it'll show you photos of an extensive tour of the old track back in 1984. http://www.solitude-memorial.de/slide/slmain.htm Last edited by Lee Janotta; 17 Mar 2003 at 16:02. |

I correct myself. It's an 84-photo tour, not an 1984 photo tour.

You could build a track using sections of the old. Much of it is in parkland i think, so who would like to have a go at resurecting this track?

Ah damn, this could be harder than i thought. You have to move the pits and t1 and t2 because they're in crowded areas in terms of peoples houses.
I am not at all happy with this, and will be back to solve some of its terrible shortcomings later.... |

I don't think it'd be so much a matter of rebuilding the track as trying to update these roads to something resembling reasonable safety standards. Even by the standards of the 1960s, this course was bloody dangerous!

Yes but peoples houses line the route. I think they'll be less keen to be comprimised by a race track these days than they were then.
Fantastic track though. Have you driven it in GPL? |

This is my version of the Adelaide street track...if it were to ever rightfully regain the Australian Grand Prix (Bloody Victorians!)
The track would follow the previous track until Stag Corner where my track would continue staight to the intersection of North and East Tce. This would then become a slightly banked 90 degree right hander that would take the cars thru a curve, past the botanic gardens and into the Wine Center Hairpin. The track from here runs back toward the old Brewry Bend that would be reprofiled into a 5th gear chicane and back onto Brabham Straight. This would be a fantasic spot to view from...and bloody quick to drive! About 1/2 way down the old Brabham Straight, the track turns into a tightening left hander and eastward toward The Parade (for anybody who knows Adelaide.) Then at The Parade, Fullarton intersection the circut goes thru another right handed hairpin and along Fullarton Road to the intersection of Kensington Road and back onto the old track (As indicated by the black line on the map below.) There are obviously a few major problems with this grand plan of mine. The amount of road works needed would be huge and ultimately i would build a new loop within the Horse racing course with a perminate pit block and new straight. Anyways....heres dreaming!!!! PS-Excuse the quality of the picture! |

Great tracks in Germany.
Not a fan of the changes to Adelaide. I like the V8 Supercar track. |

Not bad, but I like the old, long Brabahm straight, all the way from Brewery Corner to Duqueteville Hairpin.
I'd get rid of that little bit down Flinders Street, and instead go straight from Wakefield right onto Hutt. |

No, sir, I don't like it. There was nothing wrong with the old Adelaide circuit, and there is no need to change a thing.

I agree with FF.
Here is my next track - Sandy Bay. It's a bit of a favourite of mine. This track is complete with two passing opportunities at turns 1 and 9. Also, there are plenty of fast corners, including a few fast directional changes. What are your thoughts? |

I think that's definitly one of your best, mac. Not a fan of that chicane at turn 4, though.

Thats a fast chicane there though. It's more of a tricky braking zone for 5. At bit like the entry to St. Mary's at Goodwood if you know that

Trying to undo some of the atrocities committed at Silverstone. It's along the ines of the suggested improvements, but minus a few bits.
