will sort this tree thing out this weekend. I remember Spencer telling me that he straightened out the chassis using a chain and a landrover hence Andrews comments about it still being bent when he owned it.

Description:
1971 F2 Brabham BT 30 Chassis no 21. Raced by Corti and Ernesto and Vittorio Brambill by race team Ala d`Oro in 1969, 1970 and 1971. Vittorio managed to wreck the car at Pau on 25 April 1971 ( I have the pictures coutesy of LAT photographic) and it had a new chassis in 1972, the then current BT35/6. Chassis number stamped 72 No4. So in current guise has 35 chassis and body, so it also has inboard rear brakes.

FIA papers issued on 24 May 2002 after restoration in 2000. Completely stripped to bare chassis in 2004. Original FT200 (No 80) gearbox completely overhauled by RTS in 2006. Can be purchased less engine or with overhauled BDA on carburettors Atlantic spec when it is rebuilt after cam belt failure at Spa!!

Eligible for Derek Bell, Historic European F2 Club or Dutch HMR, Or take to the hills!

Contact Bob Sellix to discuss the package you would prefer. I might also discuss a part exchange for another F2 1600cc or 2000cc carbs or injected. If the BT30 does not sell I will happily race it again next year with EuroF2. I just fancy a change!!

Andrew

Could the BT30 page have an area for the mystery cars? I keep thinking I've found something new and then discovering it's been done before. For example, we know of:
1974 A/S May 2nd p.65 BT30 FVA with trailer, Tony Lambert, Knowle 021 772 5561
1974 A/S May 23rd p.66 BT30 BDA 1930cc, John Hinley, 11 Lodge Rd, Knowle 4585
1974 A/S Aug 22nd p.65 BT30 rolling chassis, Don Parker tralier 01 540 3535
1974 A/S Sep 19th p.59 BT30 Holbay, Peter Mumford 01 540 0771/4

I also just spotted Geoffrey Lambert (related to Tony?) winning the 1600cc class of a Longton sprint (AS 11 Apr 1974 p49) in an unidentified Brabham and Peter Bull, who's been mentioned before sprinting a BT30-BDA in 1974, at a Duxford sprint (AS 11 Apr 1974 p51).

I'd speculate that one of these is BT30-6 and another is BT30-10.

And a correction I think. Martin Webb is shown as having BT30-15 from 1972 to 1974 but I can't see anything to say he owned it beyond the 1972 season. I have 11 libre races for Webb and the BT30-FVA in 1972 but in 1973 he races a Chevron B25.

Similarly the only results I have for Alex Seldon and BT30-16 are in 1973. We had his name against BT30-11 at one stage (which we now know couldn't be right as he would have overlapped with Guerola) and then against BT30-16 when Ted told his story of owning that car. So the last time we know Seldon had BT30-16 was 1973. It could also be one of the cars running in sprints or being advertised in 1974.

A/S March 21st 1974 for sale Martin Webb 0217725086

A/S Feb 14th 1974 BT30 ex Bell for sale, Alex Seldon Ripley 2177

so the assumption is they owned cars through to the sale date, this may be wrong of course.

I note your comments on mystery Brabhams and I guess if it gets one solved as a result its worth it!! It could get cluttered though?

You keep good records! It's probably worth the page saying that the ownership goes up to Feb 1974/March 1974 as that makes all the difference to whether whose cars could be the unidentified cars later in 1974. I'm beginning to realsie that it's worth recording what engine the cars had in them when they were advertised as Hinley's 1930cc BDA could be distinctive. Most still had their FVAs.

I have a ten-year-old phone number for Hinley; I might check whether it still works.

Apologies if we've had this before but Autosport 13 Apr 1972 p3 says Ken Walker has bought the ex-Rollinson Bogota-winning BT30 from Bobby Howlings. I think we knew most of this but the report was usefully specific.

I have asked Phil for some extra information (i.e. the date or year the photo was taken). As soon as I have a starting point I'll start some research on the Speed Event BTs that were about in the North during the period.

In the event you guys are interested for the record:

BT30-17 which is owned by Bob Baker (Paragon Racing) has frame number AM70/107.

BT30-20 (also owned by Bob but usually driven by his son Danny) has frame number AM 70/94

Bt30-7

It was quite the derelict when I bought it from Montani. I don't think I have those photos anymore. The seat back had been moved more forward for a more upright position. Engine bay had seen some modifications to the rear cross-member, ect... steering column was double jointed. Frame was painted blue. Terrible, but all there. Montani was a dealer, who was locating cars in Italy and selling them, so didn't tell me where the cars were coming from. I don't seem to have his contact info anymore. I do remember someone saying in this thread that they saw his ad from either Vintage Motorsport or Victory Lane, which was the ad I bought the car from. So maybe we could contact him and he would give up the info now? David

The search engine on this thread is great!

David McKinney's post #38

"Agree with all that
I have a note that Fabio Montani, Italy, was offering BT30/7 for sale in September 1997"

So Vintage Motorsport or Victory lane Sept. 1997, I'll look through my mags.

The suggested date of the photo is September 10th 1977 so I will now have a rummage through my notes etc and see if anything pops up.

BT30 or BT35?

The Phil Rainford photo of David Ward at Aintree.

In the Sporting Scene section of Motoring News Thursday March 17th 1977 there is a small piece about the car; it runs as follows:

"Lancashire Clubmen David Ward & Stan Billington are campaigning an old Brabham BT35 orginally driven by Henri Pescarolo".

It goes on to say that the pair will compete "in a variety of sprints, hillclimbs and Club Races this season"

It then concludes "The DFV Powered F1 car is sponsored by Stein Lager" Obviously the DFV bit is slightly off!

I'm not sure about the Pescarolo bit either...
When did he drive a BT35? Wasn't he a bit above that sort of thing by then?
