A rather belated reaction to the news, but I was somewhat taken aback with the suddenness of the announcement. Everything was sounding very positive for 2009 and beyond (as recently as Silverstone).

Sad for the fans, sad for the series and sad for Jonathan. But, my heart really goes out to the fantastic group of guys no longer in Jonathan's employ who were Embassy Racing. I wish you all well, and have everything crossed that you will all be able to find new positions within the industry in due course. A big ask in the current climate, I know, but good luck guys!

And whilst we all hope it won't be too long before Embassy Racing returns to the track, I'd like to say a personal thank you to Jonathan on behalf of the fans (I think I can speak for everyone here?) for all he has done this year to ensure we had a considerably better online and trackside experience than would have been the case without his intervention. I'm referring, in particular, to Radio Le Mans. The difference it made to this year's Le Mans Series race coverage was immense. Add to that the girls, autograph sessions with the drivers, garage visits, free to view race reports/articles on DSC, in depth interviews made available on Planet LeMans...........

You and your team will be sorely missed, Jonathan. Thank you for all you have done for endurance racing in Europe over the last couple of years, you're a legend!

Im just wondering . There had been a rumour knocking about that Embassy were interested in running the Acura engine in Europe , but nothing came of that . Did that have something to do with their collapse ?

I don't think so. At the time of the Silverstone race, any potential deal to run the Acura engines had already been written off (although they wouldn't have been badged Acura even if the deal had gone ahead). Jonathan was at a point where he was weighing up which of two alternative engine suppliers to go with (I know some of the detail and what he considered to be the pros and cons of each, but it would be wrong of me to divulge any of the detail since we very much hope the team will return to the fold in due course and he may well wish to deal with either or both in the future).

Sad to see that Embassy is being liquidated. Was really hoping to see Jonathan and the team back on the grid in the future. @DSC free.

It's a real shame that the whole lot wasn't put up for sale at the end of last season when they announced that the cars would be mothballed for the time being. The WF01's were looking very quick and gained reliability towards the end, if they had been put up for sale last October it would have given someone the chance to raise the finance and do some winter testing and development, and possibly enter them in the LMS or even LM, now it's all a bit late really! Still, lets hope the two cars do end up racing, either in the LMS or ALMS this year. The ALMS certainly could do with a few more prototype entries.

Johnathan France must be getting short of money if he is selling the whole lot! It'll be interesting to see how much is raised, I can't imagine the Pilbeam and Radical SR9 (Although it does have a race winning pedigree!) will fetch a lot.

I think he made a brave decision at the time and this auction is the ultimate result. Although it would be great to see someone acquire the cars with a view to running them in the future, in this economic climate, I am not so optimistic. The cars are still in 2008 spec and the purchaser would also need to be willing to be the manufacturer. The alternative to a privateer is to buy a zytek or lola and not need to invest in development or spares--and have the back up support of a manufacturer. It is a real tough one.

I agree about the Pilbeam but the Radical may have a bit more support as Radical can provide the necessary backup.

The assumption that the Radical or Pilbeam would be bought by individuals who want to run it in the LMS is probably false, but there are plenty of people who want to run prototypes for fun at open test days. DSC had a shot of the ex-Dyson/ex-Autocon MG EX257 out for a run the other day during an open test. I bet there may weil be a buyer for the Radical. The Pilbeam, however, IS a bit of a dog...

This is a sad ending to the tale in general.

Very sad, I remember the hope and optimism the team had when they started the LMP2 project, it just seems like yesterday. Its a shame that dreams end like this.

One can also race older LMPs in the European Sportscar Challenge. The Embassys would probably be overkill but maybe someone will race the Pilbeam or the Radical there.
