They were testingthe crop for 2006 up at Teeside Karting last week. My girlfriend Jane was up there for a test. I dont hold out much hope though as she spun the Caterham. Perhaps i should call her "JANEYSIDWAYS"

I spoke to Natasha Firman at a Britcar event. She told me Mazda were very unhappy about the first Formula Woman series and she had cut all ties with Glew and Formula Woman. I doubt if the series will happen because it is cheaper and more fun for the girls to race the men.

As has been quite clearly said, Mazda are nothing to do with this series, which has been announced for some while.

Its not really suprising Mazda were unhappy, the cars all failed scrutinering at the first round for not having a emergency cut off switch.

Just had a look at the formula woman website listed above. Are they having a laugh, £20k for an arrive and drive deal in Caterham Academy cars... You can do the academy with Caterham for less money and you get to keep the car.

There is a need for an all female series but not one that goes out to exploit women. |

Any updates on the FW selection yet for this year ?
My wife got down to the last 80 for 2004 and is awaiting news on her trial for 2006 series. The selection process seemed a lot better than 2004. |

I haven't got past square 1 yet with this, I still don't understand why we need a formula woman when there quite obviously is no need for a formula man. There is a perfectly competant woman driver out with us as there are in many other British formulas. If these women want to go racing, then they are more than welcome to join in with the rest of us in existing formulas.

If women joined existing formulae the organsiers of Formula Woman wouldn't make any money.

Why not revive Tuscans, make to male only and call it "Formula Man" (or "Formula Bloke")?

Well, I won't rise too mach to that one Denis, as this thread was threatened with death from the outset, but over the years I have come to relise that the enemy of the sport is the large army of people who have inserted themselves between the racer and the grid with the sole intention of emptying the racers pocket.
I guess this is just another example of it. I suppose it could be argued that these women were not forced to go this route, but by the same arguement it represents 20 odd competitors who would otherwise have been in other well established "genuine" formulas. |
