Our sales of last year have decreased due to the recession.
However, we determined the Le Mans participation.
A satisfying performance was not able to be demonstrated due to test shortage in 2008.
Afterwards, we were not able to participate in Le Mans of 2009 due to the recession.
So, we were interrupting the development of S102 since the Le Mans participation abandonment in 2009.
Therefore, it is basically a 2008 version excluding the correction location corresponding to the regulation revision.
But, we will improve this car while making them run by transporting this car to Europe.
We will improve the performance as much as possible continuing the wind tunnel experiment by the preliminary contest day.
Ei. We run this car to show it off, so hopefully some one will buy it (Toyota, Nissan, Honda?). The car is basically 2 years old with no improvements since, but we will do what we can to do something, but we'll probably be in the back of the grid.

Dome opened two secrets of S102 to the public.
http://www.dome.co.jp/news/news/upimg/s102_10_01.jpg

One is a monocoque that can set up the engine position more forward.
Another one is a gearbox that makes the upper part of the casing a carbon.
This might be a present from Minoru Hayashi to us.

From memory the DOME had some of the highest (petrol LMP) trap speeds logged at LM'08 (at least on Mulsanne, anyway).
+ I can vaguely remember something about either tyre or TC issues with the car at the time.

Shame the car hasn't had much development since then. I'm sure they'll have something up their sleeve come LM, though.

A rear structure(engine) must be 300mm away from a rear bulkhead according to the regulation(Article 16.1.1.e1).
However, the Judd engine of S102 is set up from the rear bulkhead within 300mm.
But, this is legal.
It is because 300mm is measured based on the salient part at the rear end of the monocoque.
As a result, it became possible to set up a heavy engine more forward.
This was secret of an excellent weight balance of S102.

Any plans to run in the AsLMS?

It would also be cool if a few customer chassis were sold.

The Dome must be a great base for a 2011 P1, who knows, someone may even get access to one of those Super GT 3.4l V8's.

Since Dome doesn't have a race team of their own it certainly stands to reason that someone has to help them out! Odd that it would be Oak though, since they already will have two cars of their own to mind.

That's a shame. Was looking forward to seeing the Dome back on track this year.
Hopefully they can sort out their budgetary woes.

Sportscar-racing.net reported the interview of Kazumichi Goh about Dome.
The outline is as follows.

A large sum of money is needed for Japanese team to act in Europe.
Conditions are worse than US team.
Also because Dome were the teams and constructors, money might have been necessary further more.
Most Japanese racing team depend on money of the auto manufacturer.
The exception is team Goh and Jimgainer.
Japanese team don't try to participate in an overseas race because they cannot acquire the sponsor.
Dome and Team Goh were gone from Le Mans.
ACO advantageously handle the entry application of Japanese team.
However, their race results are miserable.
Japanese team lose ACO's trust by this.
I am anxious about this.
Dome and Team Goh will return to Le Mans one of these days.

The childhood dream doesn't end.
Dome announced that they would restart the test program of S102.
First test is done at Fuji speedway on April 26.
They declared that they diverted the budget for Le Mans to the development cost.

So if the goal is for a 2011 entry, towards what kind of engine are they looking? Since we know that the 2011 LMP1s will be restricted to 3.4 NA or 2.0 turbo (or 3.7 diesel) engines... And, particularly, are they looking towards any manufacturer in their back yard?

Toyota is probably the only one who could be interested, but after the recent "incident" (speeder problem), they are not spending any "unnecessary" resources.
My guess would be Judd, HPD (Mugen?) or another Engine producer.

Crazy guesses could be Nissan or Mazda as a way to start a new LMP program, but this is also unlikely as none have shown that big interest in Le Mans. (Other than Support programs)
