I'd say prospects are very good, last year was just too hot for camping over the race weekend itself.

Here's the fifteen day forecast again.

Reckon it'll be dry, temperatures in the mid to high 20's..........perhaps

Well , thats made me smile . I hate the wet ones , but a small shower here and there to see em all dive into the pits for a tyre chance is cool .

I remember well what camping was like last year ..... I reckon bread would have turned into toast in my tent .

Still , high 20's is fine

I have been there when it is very hot (even worse than last year), when it has been wet, and when it has been blowing a gale, strangely it is the times with extreme weather you remember best, there is nothing like a flooded campsite to bring people together, it is then that you meet different people not just the friends you went down with. Also the race can throw up surpurises, maclaren!

I don't want a totally wet weekend, but the occasional shower helps keep the race interesting and also helps keep the dust down in the campsites.

I must admit that when I finally got into the circuit last year and hauled my already-weary butt into the grandstand with Fab and Adam, having hiked from about about a mile the other side of Tertre Rouge, I was as hot as I ever remember being..... And as the sun rose up the grandstand, row by row, I just sat there waiting to fry..........

.........I distinctly remember turning to the guy I was sitting next to last year and expressing my relief at not being in the pits grandstand for that very reason. I've never seen it empty so soon after the start of the race!

It was simply impossible to sit in the sum for more than about 5 minutes at a time. I wandered down to the empty front row from time to time to take pictures, but I couldn't take it for long. After about 10 minutes of sitting in the stand I felt as though I'd been in the shower....

We're in Lagache, opposite the pits grandstand. We'll be able to watch Ayse melting in the stand opposite as we relax in the shade.............

and with a start at 5pm, it should be even harder ...
fortunately, we're on row G (3 from the top), so we'll catch the sun later

I'm in row F, so I guess that means 4 from the top?

I learned from our Chief Tourist today that we should be on for a full pit visit to one of the teams (probably on Friday, I guess). It seems one of the drivers (or someone important, anyway) is a client of his.......

By the way Suze, even if your on t'other side, don't forget a hat. You might now need it as much as me, but if we getr a scorcher like last year, you'll need it as soon as you leave the grandstand.......

A question please guys.

We all know the race is starting (and thereby finishing) an hour later this year. I understand because of the World Cup. But there are no games of any real note at all on Saturday afternoon - surely we're not delaying the race for the Czech Repulic v. Ghana or Portugal v. Iran?

So, what's the desperate need to start late?

I think it's because in many countries, the same TV channel will broadcast both the world cup and Le Mans, so they don't want any of them beeing tape delayed
