Yes, and they all drive in the 2nd half of the race after their amateur co-drivers have spun and crashed into half the GT field causing SC after SC. A couple of hot-shoes who didn't have enough money to continue up the open wheel "ladder" does not an interesting class make.

Which teams have used PC to get into prototypes and then move up? Level 5? Although they were in DP and may go back into PC next year. Four years of the class haven't produced any teams moving up. The class just isn't very interesting. It was purely introduced as a field filler for when the economy tanked in '08 and the ALMS field fell apart. And I like/root for a lot of the people in the class!

General discussion on class inclusion and changes to the series are should be in the main thread. As Aysedasi has asked. Obviously it is related, but as it will derail the thread and ruin it please follow this direction. Perhaps if people could avoid getting in a tizzy...

Ganassi to Chevy in Indycar. Doesn't say anything about USCC, but it may be an indication of their sports car program.

Seems unlikely if they're really going in for cross-series synergy, doesn't it? Then again, they ran Chevy in NASCAR, Honda in Indycar and BMW in Grand-Am this year. I expect, in the end, they'll run what makes the most sense from a fiscal and competition standpoint. I feel that's just how CGR operates.

How are the grid counts so far? Based on this season's figures, my uneducated guesses are:

o- P: 10-16
o- PC: 6-8
o- GT: 8-10
o- GTD: 8-12

Total: 32-46

I guess that there will be around 20 protos and 20 GTs.

My list right now has assuming there are not a ton of drop outs

Prototype: 20-24
Prototype Challenge: 8-11
GTLM: 10-12
GTD: 19-23

Alex Job Racing targeting 2 entries, 1 confirmed ATM w/ Cooper Macneil. Will likely be Porsche 911 GT Americas, but it's not set in stone yet.

Also, AJR will be ending the West Ferrari program because they know that a Pro-Am lineup will not be competitive in GTLM.

The GTLM class is going to end up just like GT1. Dead, with two corvettes, and two porkers, maybe two snakes unless GT3 cars really are the moneymaker.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic here, but, I feel that GT3 is the way to go. Either pro-am, or pro. I'm just envisioning things going the way they did when GT1 was starting to out-price, out-pace, and out-engineer the privateers.

No pessimism at all. That is clear in fact which is why the GTLM/GT3 merger is happening later this decade. Hopefully in 2017 we'll end up with the GT+ and GT Am set up. And that works for me since GTLM and GT3 (the full FIA configuration) run the same speeds already. Watch some international GT open. Its a cool series because you can legitimately compare GTLM and GT3 cars with each other.
