Pleased to see it, though can't get my head around the logic of spectators allowed at a race meeting but not at a track day......

Fantastic news.
I wonder if MSV are trialling this with the governing body looking over their shoulder to see how it goes with an eye to the bigger events such as BTCC & British GT still to come. |

No reference to MSUK, who are/were supposed to be leading the guidance on when spectators/visitors are allowed at race events. |

What I find strange is that I can find no reference in any Government guidance as to motorsport re starting and as yet M UK have not made an "official" announcement about events starting this weekend. Certain sports like golf and tennis have been given the go ahead but noting about other sports.

The lifting of lockdown is indeed money centric. Unfortunately,I will not be entering as among many other problems prepping my car this was the final nail,so to speak. |

Nevertheless, fully respect anyone who decides they don't want to attend meetings in any capacity for whatever reason. |

It all depends on whether you believe the whole.coumtey to be riddled with virus and nothing but total Lockdown will stop it, or whether there aren't thatany people about in a population of 65 million and a few simple precautions will stop it.
The answer as always is probably somewhere in between. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |

It seems like MSV are keeping us paying punters separate enough from the participants so in practice it will be no different to being behind-closed-doors for the drivers/team/etc.
Also, the ticket prices are somewhat steep so I don't think you'll get many random people turning up just for something to do... |

Confused.
MSV selling tickets to events from 11th July where as Sillystone earliest is 12th September, Combe 19/20th September, at the moment. Guess I make a list and wait. |

Because it is a unilateral MSV decision, not led by MSUK guidance as far as I can see. Other circuits may follow should MSV be able to operate with visitors (what used to be called spectators pre-covid...).

At one point - their last published statement on the subject - MSUK said no spectators/visitors was a condition of permitting events. Something seems to have changed - not clear what!

As well as stopping spectators into the paddock, are MSV stopping the paddock going out into the public areas?
If they are creating 2 bubbles of people on site who do not mix then that's within the spirit of the MSUK guidance. |

Entrants are under strict conditions to comply with distancing. If they breach those conditions they can be ejected from the meeting.
Are "visitors" under the same regulations? Don't forget who puts up the money to run meetings. The entrants. |

obviously i’d prefer spectators to be not permitted until cases were lower, but those outside the paddock need to be subject to the same rules and regulations as those of us inside to keep them and the sport safe. by the time we get to the point when spectators will actually be in circuits i’m sure things will be different. |

Isn't it more the letter of the guidance? The wording is "behind closed doors". It seems that is being interpreted in this case as no access to the paddock, pits or track area?

And don't forget the people who support circuits, year in , year out , and over the years have spent a hell of a lot of money in the process , as well as contributing in other ways . In my case that includes marshalling , journalism , helping to run events and introducing many new people to the sport . Nobody has a monopoly viewpoint and there is no need o patronise those who , for various reasons , don't race themselves . As a 'visitor ' I expect to be subject to precisely the same regime as everyone else , and to face the consequences if I don't. God knows, my local circuit , Croft, often has more than enough security staff to quell a medium scale riot. An unlikely scenario , admittedly , among the bunch of old farts like me who make up most of the 'crowd' . Except when, saints preserve us , the gazebo toting BTCC army turns up for its annual BBQ and litterfest ... |
