TK just stated that GT cars usually give room there....dunno, awful racing incident, IMHO. Seems a bit aggressive on Alan's part early, but just happy everyone seems ok, physically.
Lets get this going again and hope for a safe finish! |

Quite amused that, just after the crash, Eurosport 2 showed the McNish/Audi advert about what it takes to win at Le Mans in its break!

Sounds like the AMRs both had identical problems with a crack in the Aluminium steel casing near the alternator(???) - 009 is definitely gone, but the 007 is still undergoing repairs.

You have to say outstanding job from Audi for producing such a safe car, and the fin did it's job.
Must say I don't like gravel traps in high speed sections, they either launch cars or send them into a roll. |

good lord that was a major bullet dodge moment....
I cant see blaming the Ferrari, he had an Audi behind me who was holding up, next thing you know another one comes bolting through, there is no way the ferrari could have known McNisch was coming through, the speed diff was quite major. McNish was being very aggressive and it was a gamble that he thought the ferrari knew he was there--compounded by the confusion that the ferrari would have been watching the other audi, and seeing him check up and thus thinking he was clear to take his line. unfortunately I put this racing incident as avoidable, McNish's error. I'll say it again, all the cameramen and marshalls dodged a frickiing big bullet there. what should come out of this is being careful about the "lip" right at teh end of gravel that sent the audi up a bit more. Lordy though, just a bit more and it would have been ugly. |
