I think many would agree with you, but to me its beauty relates mostly to my first ever race. (I was 5, and Ronnie P was astounding in chasing JYS in the rain. JYS is still my 2nd favourite after GV, but RP was amazing, too. BTW, I'm almost in the photo!)
The car got more lumpy and less attractive as time went by. The airbox especially got pretty hideous. |

The March looked better without the tea-tray, but the airbox was really ugly, yeah

alesi95,
The first Pacific was actually a Reynard design which the bought when Reynard ran out of money for the project. I agree with most of the cars commented on above but no-one has mentioned one of my altime favourites, the Bennetonn B188, it looked stunning with those intakes above the sidepods when everyone else was going the usual rollbar intake route. |

I also really loved the BRM P160.
The first image, 1971, Jo Siffert and the second, 1973, Niki Lauda, leading his first F1 race at Mosport, which was also the last time BRM led a race. Last edited by EERO; 10 Jan 2008 at 22:20. |

This second image of Lauda, shows the addition of a wide sportscar nose and the addition of the deformable structure to the side of the monocoque which altered its svelte lines. Still a fine lokking if underpowered car.

The 300SL was the sad protagonist of the tragic Le Mans crash in 1955, right?

_______________________________________________________ At 6:30 p.m. it was time for the first pit stops. After passing White House and entering the straight before the pits Hawthorn dove for the pits. This maneuver caught Macklin in his slower Austin-Healy by surprise and he swerved to the left. This left the on rushing Mercedes of Pierre Levegh with no escape. The Mercedes hit the Austin-Healey at over 130 m.p.h. and launched into the air and onto the earthen barrier that divided the spectators from the pit straight. The car burst into flames and the shock of the crash tore the engine and front suspension which were hurtled into the trapped crowd killing 83 people and injuring over 100. |

In terms of paintjobs, yes, Williams have always had great ones, notably the Camel/Canon one 1991-93 and the Rothmans one 1994-97... When Winfield came in it was like if Williams had lost it's identity...
Don't you miss the Marlboro McLaren paint scheme?? |

Though I liked the Rothman's scheme (its been handsome on every application) I thought the Canon/Camel livery looked like an afterthought-no style whatsoever. It was a clear example of Williams and Head's pragmatism and lack of panache.

Well, I guess Williams and Head don't care too much about how the cars look if they win... And they won.

Yes this year's good. Although when the BMW livery appeared in 2000 it seemed to me too white, now it's quite good.
And in shape and design most Williams have also been great looking... |

yeah I like the shape too its also quite classy cos it is very simple, there isnt loads of little extras like on lots of other cars. It means that they have designed it so well to start with that they havent had to add on loads of mods to make it work.
