come and test one of my F4's if you fancy cheap slicks and wings racing. We are just finishing off our new 07 spec car. We could build you a new car for the cost of your Ray. |

We did advertise the cars with the intention of moving up to the championship class. After various close calls we didn't sell them and we were losing our nerve a bit regarding compliance with the championship rules. So we are running in the club class again this year. It is difficult to be sure of numbers yet as registrations don't need to be in before the Renault test day at Oulton. Understandably drivers are hanging on to their money to the last minute. However, talking to people we are looking like having the greater share of the grid this year. (I may yet prove to be wrong but that is the general impression) We ended last year with capacity grids at the last 3 rounds, but the major share of the grid all last season was held by the
championship class. Come to the Oulton test on March the 20th if you live up that end of the country and talk to a few people. I think it is possible to get a very distorted view from sites like this, as you never know if the person you are taking notice of has ever even sat in a car let alone raced one. Reon and Muzz hire out cars or run owners cars for them, as does Nicky Wilson ( terje on 10 tenths) a previous champion of this formula. |

Unfortunately I am based between Brighton and Gatwick in West Sussex.
If I was nearer Oulton I would do the NWFF as that is a great championship. When your calender is released or posted on the BARC site I'll come and watch have a chat etc. Would be interested in testing too a good car too. |

Chris when we spoke you wanted more than I can afford. I want to buy something and hopefully have some change from the sale of my car not add thousands to it. |

Anyway good to know there'll be some familiar faces in the paddock when eventually we get out to race. And for all those thinking of joining those faces are friendly too - none of that bickering found on other 'club' forums!! |

Keith is busy with the magazine. He still has my old '93 in the garage but no time to use it. As there is no longer a Brands based Championship I have been trying to convince him to sell it and get a Renault. |

I can start the car and the rain light works but nothing else. My brother has given it to renault sport to look at Hopefully they will be able to sort it out. |

I thought the carbon cars were 1.6L ?
I meant your cars Tour car rubber slowed you down? Why? |

Pole time for the club class for the winter series in 2005 was a mid 46sec. on a hot day it may be more like a low 47, a 48 would still be respectable. The Touring cars seemed to be laying a lot of rubber down that our tyres were picking up & keeping on the surface of the tyre, its the only reason i can think of to explain why that weekend was so slow. |

From memory we had terrential rain on Friday which must have washed most of the summer rubber away. The weekend was dry but given it was late Sep not sure the track got that hot althought the air temp was high enough.
Not sure if that helps explain it but certainly not many people ran inside 49s. Of course we were missing our champ who had gone all pro on us and stepped into a carbon car!! He may have posted anyting up to 2 secs quicker going on previous differentials. Has Mr Palmer made any subtle track changes that have 'lengthened' the lap - or at least made corner cutting less advantageous? |

No the track is unaltered
Corner cutting at Brands!?! Some do at surtees some don't I have tried both and don't as do most people. More likely heavy rain washed the track clean. |

Well, there was something in what Ian said, my tyres are still covered in an unusual amount of pick up following that event.
I'll have to scrub it off at Oulton on March the 20th and leave it with them. |

I've just had a bit of a chin wag with a few people, its now looking like between 15 and 17 club class cars. Goos news, I was predicting 50% share of the grid this year, looks like it could be even better!!
The interesting thing is that quite a few cars have come back which were lost to other formulas ( and sat in garages) in recent years. |

Best Chassis
Mygale or Tatuus ? Or another make?
Kimi won in a 99 Mygale didn't he? But is a 99 Tatuus still the better car? Seen a 99 Tatuus with a PI system 2 dash and logger is that legal in BARC? |

I think mygale did win the championship in france though 98 or 99 & some people have made them go quick in BARC, nick wilcox & stuart turvey for example Realy you need a tatuus 97 98 or 99. a van diemen 97/98 is a good bet, but only with the right dampers, i don't know what they are but only a couple of people have made them work, others have really struggled when using the standard damper PI is fine but you are restricted to the number of chanels you can run Last edited by ianpearson; 5 Mar 2007 at 14:37. |
