I don't see much point dreaming if there's little chance of these things happening.
Given the abundance of factory entries and filler cars like the R8 it's the kind of grid I would have taken over some recent LMS/ALMS fields. I'm not expecting a stand-alone Asian Le Mans Series to sprout up but I do hope to see an increasing number of local teams build programs around these events. Given GT500 and Formula Nippon use 2011 P1 spec engines that takes away one hurdle for teams looking at this class while I'm sure a place will be found for GT300 and GT3 cars for the forseable future. The first PLM had the following entry- Started: 29 (WSC - 6, LMP1 - 3, GT1 - 1, GT2 - 3, GT3 - 8, LM GT1 - 3, LM GT2 - 5) Last edited by JAG; 10 Oct 2010 at 19:04. |

In the recent past Japanease manufacturers have spent big just to compete at Le Mans with the GT-ONE and R390/1, cars that were bared from FIA GT.
The Japanease WSC rounds were always 90% European entrants with the odd local factory team and customer Porsche, I see the ILMC in a similar light. Manufacturers competed in both the WSC and IMSA GTP and I see the same happening with the ILMC and ALMS, Audi have signalled as much with their desire to run additional regionally funded cars. |

Shame there's no Nissans in GT1, they're not racing in Japan so its closest to a home race as you'll get for Nissan.

Frank Yu and Richard Meins confirmed as two of the drivers in the second United Autosports Audi.
Third driver? Danny Watts. Any bets on whether this car will be outqualifying the Jag(s) by more than two seconds? |

With Danny Watts qualifying the car I'd say there is a chance of that yes. It will be one of the interesting sub-plots of the race to see how the GT3's can mix it with the lower end of the GT2's and also the hybrid.

Also seeing via Jon Dagys that MIK has pulled out both cars leaving just OAK racing to run all by itself in LMP2. |

Oh, now that is surprising. But it's not like Labre needs to worry about JLOC anyway (I doubt Atlas bothers to come there). Lovely way to give final farewell to old girl S7, nevertheless.

It should help them beat the GT2s at the end of the race (or at least get close to them), which is something I don't think I've seen done by GT1 cars this year.

Updated entry list
6x LMP1 1x LMP2 1x FLM 2x GT1 9x GT2 4x GT3 1x GTH I say this again: It doesn't look much better than @ Aida last year- despite the factory entries for ILMC. But look! GT1 isn't the smallest class on the grid, not by far! When was the last time that happened! |

Look at things this way as well. This is the closest we will get to having all GT classes racing together.
I think a lot of people will be watching to see how the GT3's compare to GT2's under ACO conditions. |

The Panoz will not be racing after all in Zhuhai (again according to mr. Dagys).

Last year we had 23 cars in four 'proper' classes and other than Aston Martin Racing no official works cars in LMP1. This year they'll have 23 cars in seven classes, just 17 cars in P1, P2, GT1 and GT2 and that includes 4 works entries! Rest is in the classes that are non-existent at Le Mans... The lack of interest from Asian entries says enough. Last year in Okayama there were nine Asian entries, this year there will be three. |

Peugeot Power
Does anyone else notice that peugeot wants the 908 to go out with a bang. All french linup in the french peugeot 908 for its last race and no doubt the four fastest drivers in the team-perhaps add in anthony davidson. Scary fast!!.
Audi has no chance unfortunately. Pagenaud, Bourdais, Montagny, Sarrazin, Your just asking to be blitzed if you show up to a race with those guys in the 908's. |

To be honest, stick any of the works guys in the 908 and they are going to be bang on the pace. That is the measure of the car. I'm not sure if they really have a weak driver in their current roster.
Montagny is very impressive though. |

It's a toss up between Motagny and Bourdais for me. Those guys are fliers when it comes to driving the 908. Davidson is fast as well. Those I think are the top 3 in the Peugeot camp. I predict another win for them, Audi has to come on strong to compete!

Audi didn't have the sheer pace as the Peugeot's. If you think they did you must have watched a different race. They were faster. The only thing that kept Audi in the race was traffic IMO. They weren't that much slower, but they were definitely slower. Maybe by a second or less, but it adds up. Who knows, maybe this track will be a different story, but from Silverstone, LeMans, Petit, it doesn't seem that way.
