One posing question for you all about this meeting..

Are the doctors/ambulance crews on the rescue units allowed/going to be working for 12(ish) hours like the marshals/other officals. Or do they legally have to a break fom eating too many donuts..

I hope i speak for all drivers involved this weekend in thanking in advance all the people that give up valuble personal time to marshal/organise and run our race meetings. Without your effort none of us can do what we enjoy most......racing.

Thank you again

Martin.

We are sorry that we will not be there this weekend but we still have an issue with the gearbox. We hope that it can be sorted in time for the race at Brands but why James have you put us in the same class as the Mosler??!! The only other reason that we may not be out again this season in the Golf is that it is now up for sale.

Stuart, the Mosler is running with two 30 mm restrictors..I dont think they want to blam anyone just give some night time experience.
Anyway...can we assume the Golf is for sale as you are looking at a Viper,TVR,Porsche,Ferrari,Mosler,Corvette (delete where not applicable) for your 2004 GT assault?

Paul, We would love to stay with the Golf as it is different, and quick when it's reliable but we are looking also at Porsche,Chevrolet and Chrysler next year. We wish that VW would give us some support as we are doing this all on our own and we need help. The Golf must be one of the most talked about cars this year and we would like to continue with it if we get support from VW.

A point that was raised earlier in this thread was about marshals working a shift system that works if there are enough marshals to change shift with. I hope the event goes ahead, but I fear that there will be a distinct lack of officials for this weekend.

I see eventually co-ordinaters like me also be a breed of the past, they will replace me with a TV system and paid full time quick response vehicles and following the Champ car meeting at Brands this year that is not far away...
For the first time in British motor racing history, night time practise will be done on the same night, and the Britcar team with Mr.Symmes from the MSA have found a way to help marshals , time has not been on our side but this event will see the chance for anyone with headlights to race
on a saturday afternoon in the dark, thus making clubs /circuits more viable, plus a return of a 24 hr race
which is not everyones cup of tea or lunch for that matter.

I guess I wont be missed either then? Me and hubby will be at Mallory although we were meant to be at donington. The lack of information from organisers and the fact of no diner break is much to much to take.

I will say James respect is one thing we are after and with a throw away statment like that you arnt showing that you give much respect to marshals

That is not a through away statememnt it is a statement of fact, you all will be sadley missed, and for the reason put forward in my earlier reply..I understand how you feel about breaks etc, but I have been told a rotar system is being put together to relieve posts...and as this race was only offered to 'Britcar' 3 weeks ago due to a cancellation in Nov, as Donington is retarmacing then.
I am sorry you can't come

James as i said earlier rota systems are fine if you have enough marshals. As you have said you were offered this race three weeks ago. We are only just finding out. I do understand all those involved in britcar want it to succeed but please do not have a go at the very people who you really want to help you. Look to the people who have given you this information, but have not communicated it to the rellavent people namely the marshals. (in all there shapes & forms.)

Hi flagwaver.
nowere have I had a go at anyone, I am and have just stated fact as it is presented. 3 weeks we were offered -yes but no- last friday we were given permission and on thursday, night I worked straight through the night and yes I do have a full time job , to give the MSA everything they required.
Friday pm John Ward from the BRSCC told me we had the go ahead,
so John Veness and the team started confirming with the teams and got 7 teams dropping out as thourght the race was off,a timetable was put together on SAT and e.mail to the BRSCC Midland centre was sent with the list of runners and riders. the clerk of the course and I discussed everything and now Thursday
we believe we have a race. I am pleased there is this forum
because it gives us all the chance to understand the 'them and us' which is plaigeing the sport at the moment. Ask your friends at Thruxton, Snett and Brands if Britcar is worth it, I know the answer and if the Donington team cry off they will never know!!! Donington has a licence to run long races.

James, would have helped you out as sure it will be as good as the rest of the races I have seen this year. Unfortunately ill health has ment marshaling is something that has to be put to one side, hopefully in order I can be fit next year, where I plan do as many of the Britcars I can get to.

Hmmmmm, yes.... I was just browsing mst and thought it all looked a bit odd. Only 23/20 qualifiers/starters as well - I thought a full grid of 37 was being hinted at?? All very strange.

Also, how do two drivers get a decent amount of track time prior to the race with only a 15 minute qualifying session?

Lets hope Brands gets a better grid for the two November meetings.

Mind you, the quality of the entry looks quite good. Neil Cunningham and Bill Sollis in a Modified Mini!! - interesting!!

There was an issue with delaying the practice to ensure that each driver got night time experience..hence a delayed start then there was an 8pm curfew so the race was actually ended a little early...all in all though it felt and looked great..a few minor niggles to iron out and it'll be a winner
