Isn't that one of the reasons the MC12 wasn't allowed, as well as it's dimensions? This would allow for cars like the LFA to be allowed as well, since it's chassis is carbon.

Alvaro Parente has been signed up as test driver - kind of surprised at that, not that I would hesitate giving him one of the race seats, but would have thought a more experienced GT driver would be better to develop the car.

The Autocar piece describes Chris Goodwin as 'chief tester' and Andrew Kirkaldy as 'project manager' for CRS, so it's not as if they're short of experienced GT hands to put their input into developing the car

My interest in this project will increase tenfold when they lower a GTE out of a trailer. Will probably try and get to Silverstone to watch the Brit GT/Blancpain tie-up mind you.
McLaren back to Le Mans please. Thanks. |

That car is beautiful.
Ya, GT3 is becoming expensive but not even GT2, and possibly GT1, managed to get this amount of variety. |

Good to finally see some pics of the GT3 machine. It certainly has presence and stands out for sheer 'wow' factor. Will be interesting to see how it fares on track. Mclaren wouldnt be doing this by halves so they wouldve picked CRS only if they knew they could pull it off so Im expecting the car to be fast out of the box.
Looking at those wonderful double clutch pics I notice the steering wheel looks like it came off an F1 car. |

Some interviews from the GT3 launch.
- Dennis says Mclaren would only be interested in Le Mans if going for the overall win (not on the agenda), but customers could be interested in GTE. - Ratel says GT1 will allow brands to run with just two cars in 2012. - Kirkaldy says they are interested in building a GTE, developing a GT1 doesn't make much sense if they can only sell two cars. http://www.endurancesportscar.net/in...dcast_001.html |

I'm more concerned about the teams than anything else. What about Young Driver and Hexis or Münnich Motorsport and Swiss Team Racing? So one team runs different cars or gets the boot? It would be sad if it came to this. |

To clear up, Dennis seemed to be talking about Mclaren as a factory entry, it seems a GTE is in the works for customers.
