I'm just going to have a chat to him from a spectators point of view....I had a nice chat with him @ PI last year and he was very approachable.
let's remember he stole it and will get his cash back very quickly, though good on him for having the cash to spend. he now gets to compete in his own series without entry fees (ball park years fee all up is circa $80k) and admin being run in a manner he may not agree with. it's about control and he has it. i'd love to see next years 12hr (if there is one) to be the first round of GTs (double points) and drop Clipsal. This could increase the 12hr field and be able to reduce the entry fee. I'm new to GT but already I can see it's expensive to participate with minimal track time at a V8 weekend.

Where are you getting your facts from Scudd ? AGT season registration and entry fees for the full 2012 Championship is around $35k for a GT Chamionship class of car & gets cheaper from there depending on which class you enter...

Re "Lets just make a 12 Hour race part of the championship" argument. Like I posted earlier, it is not just another race. The budget to run a 12 hour race is far greater than a normal AGT round because the time and km's travelled in 12 hours would be more like the equivalent of two seasons of normal race km's. It all costs money !

Logistically it must be easier to secure certain levels of sponsorship when you are offering 7 rounds of exposure including 3 at such high profile events as Clipsal, GC 600 and Homebush as oppose to one 12 hour race, albeit at Bathurst, with near double the entry fees, little or no prizemoney and a highlight TV package screened later in the year.

All I can say is.... WOW!!

I can get onboard with the thinking that someone may or may not be trying to get his/her investment back inside 1 round of the series

So lets do the maths... just for fun...

Championship Registration Fees:
GT Championship $35,990 (Incl. GST), GT Trophy $27,990 (Incl. GST), GT Challenge $20,990 (Incl. GST), GT Sports $17,990 (Incl. GST)

Round Registration Fees
R1 Adelaide $6,695 (Incl. GST) + R2 Phillip Island $5,995 (Incl. GST) + R3 Winton $5,995 (Incl. GST) + R4 Eastern Creek $5,995 (Incl. GST) + R5 Phillip Island $5,995 (Incl. GST) + R6 Surfers Paradise $6,695 (Incl. GST) + R7 Homebush $6,695 (Incl. GST) = in total $44,065. Presumably including GST.

So... lets add ‘em up....

GT Championship
C’ship Reg’n $35,990 (Incl. GST)+ Round Reg’n $44,065 (Incl. GST) = $80,055 (Incl GST).
Without GST, its a much more serviceable $72,777.27! More than $10k per round for just entry fees!

GT Trophy
C’ship Reg’n $27,990 (Incl. GST)+ Round Reg’n $44,065 (Incl. GST) = $72,055 (Incl GST).
Without GST, its loads cheaper at $65,504.55!

GT Challenge
C’ship Reg’n $20,990 (Incl. GST)+ Round Reg’n $44,065 (Incl. GST) = $65,055 (Incl GST).
Without GST, its much better at a paltry $59,140.91!

GT Sports
C’ship Reg’n - $17,990 (Incl. GST)+ Round Reg’n $44,065 (Incl. GST) = $62,055 (Incl GST).
Without GST, it becomes an everyman price at only $56,413.64!

All of this so there can be teev that will more than likely show on affiliate 7mate at unpublished times...

All I can say is... you'd have to be keen.. or mad.. or both

Didnt we do this all before.. in a time far far away... except the name over the door was... PROCAR?

Thats what I thought whilst reading that post also. Seems to be the norm for most series, it gives people incentive to enter the full championship.

Your right Sheep Stations, commit to all 7 rounds up front and pay your entry fee ($35,990, $27,990, $20,990 or $17,990) in two instalments.

Dont commit to all 7 rounds at the start and instead pay on a round by round basis & you will end up paying more (round registration fees) - but it's one or the other, you dont pay both lots of fees...

Far out.
I thought I was getting ripped of when I paid $900 to compete in the FFord support race at the Adelaide Grand Prix back in '94.
I'm glad I did that sort of thing while I had the chance.

$800 to compete in the Classic section at Rally SA (national event)at the moment.

See you in the dirt, chaps.

Carnage and $$$ , but will this category put up with it ?
I hope that he keeps it clean as he is a character and an individual , however how is a driver who loves the feeling of door on door going to be able to adjust his driving and attitude ?

Glad it's not just me that noticed that the oncoming sound from the Aston is just so different to the sound when it passes and is speeding away from you. Have not noticed such a significant difference from any other GT car.

Oh. And I too get goosebumps at the sight and sound of it like the rest of you.

Watched B-B-Bill "grandad" Crick give the old Valiant two-door Mopar a run at Symmons Plains last week.

Knocked out some very impressive times also looked pretty flash in the new paint scheme.
