Shocking news this morning, I'm struggling to take it in. I think we all thought Richard would make some sort of recovery from this illness. England's only world rally champion lost so early. A true tragedy. Like everyone else here, my deepest sympathies go out to the Burns family at this dreadfully difficult time. RIP Richard.

Like all previous posts, my sympathy goes to the Burns family in this hardest of times. Richard was one of the greats and it is just sad that rallying didn't get to see more of his talent. His legacies range from his World title to a superb PC game to which he devoted many hours, so I'm sure he will never be forgotten.
RIP Richard. |

I am really upset to hear this news, what a terrible shock. Not only a brilliant driver, but a thoroughly good bloke too. I had the pleasure of meeting him at starts, finishes and service halts at various stages of his career, and he remained as friendly and approachable throughout.
Condolences go to all his family and friends. |

Quite a shock. While I may only drop in on WRC from time to time I keep tabs on it via autosport etc.. I have to say I thought he would make it through and be back ina car one day. I read the headline as Richard Burns Passes... and assumed at first he passed a medical and was about to take on Colin. Utter shame.
You will be missed Richard. Sure you will keep Beefy company. |

Very very very very sad. Him and Solberg were my favorite drivers and I was extremly anoyed that they couldn't team together at Subaru in 2004, my best memory was his very exciting season in 2003 when four drivers could have won it going into GB.

I am still struggling to take in the fact he failed to beat the odds in his biggest challenge.

Heard the sad news this morning while out Marshalling on the Lombard Revial. What a sad year for British Rallying
Like a few other posters I thought he was getting better and was looking forward to his return to the stages, I am sure that he is up there with Micheall Park and the others who have been taken away from us over the years driving the great stage in the sky RIP Richard |
