The R19s were not heavy. Just too narrow to be used as a serious race car.

Just wondering, but how would narrowness effect the performance? Later in 93 Renault changed the car around a lot (put in a sequential gearbox) and it was much faster, even in the dry.

I reckon it had to do with the tracking of the car. When you have a narrow car, it can be less stable than one with a wider track, i.e. distance between left and right front wheels. |

Hello Darin
![]() I guess... Any other cars that were like that? I can think of the BMW M3s from 1991. |

I think the Carina/Corona had a similar problem to begin with.

At Donington in the rain Mansell looked quite impressive, but that was just the one race and the rest of the time he looked a little out of touch.

I think the worst car/driver combination was Hamish Irvine/BMW 318iS (1994) & Peugeot 405 (1995)

I still reckon Eugene O'Brien was the worst, Peugeot 405 94?

If there's a rule against resurrecting threads, my apologies, Grahame Davis' Rover from 1991 or the works Mitsubishi's Mark Hales drove.

How about the works Infiniti/Palmer effort? Car was undeveloped, team was a bit strange with how it went about things and the drivers weren't exactly experienced with modern tin tops
