racefanatic should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
As far as I know, there is no curse that falls upon CART drivers who go to F1 and then return to CART/Champ Car. That's a really scary thought. Alex Zanardi's accident was totally unrelated to his racing career path (CART to F1 and back).

However, Champ Car has the best medical team in the world, so I'd lke to believe that even if something happens, everything would be ok.

PKV would like to announce the signing of their new driver...

...LYNN ST JAMES!

"It's time to make a comeback."

Or maybe not. But imagine if it was?

I agree that no one in the US is going to start watching CC because they heard CDM is back. I do think that if someone does start watching, the level of competition will be higher and it gives the series more legitimacy when there are 4 past champions. On a semi-side note, I really think F1 is suffering from the lack of experience with success, because no one is consistant. Someone who's consistant in CC can mean a sustained challange for the championship and wins.

Robin Miller apparently announced on Speed Channel that the announcement re CDM and PKV will be made on Tuesday. I think that will be a good deal as having all the top drivers on one team would be as boring as F1.

Good to see Cristiano back again and I hope he does not get injured in the Tron-O-Rama next weekend.

I know we're getting off topic, but Tron-O-Rama? I haven't heard that one before. I take it that you aren't a Grand Am fan? Any particular reason that you dislike Grand Am?

And what's with the Tron-O-Rama term? Is that something to do with the old Disney movie Tron?

PKV Racing are planning to test both Dalziel and Wirdheim this week so it's still possible that they will be a three car team this year.

If this is Vasser's last year, then running a third car this year with a young driver to take up the mantle next year might be a good idea. I am still hoping to see Wirdheim get a competitive seat.

Can't find the link now, but I read that McGee does not want a three-car team, and that daMatta stipulated that he only wanted Vasser for a teammate.

I heard that as well, but then why is PKV-R bothering to test Dalziel and Wirdheim again Unless they cancel it of course at the last second.

There will be no test for Wirdheim in PKV this week next week or any week. Personally I think PKV will never be an option for BW, not even in the future if I know that guy right. Hopefully we will se BW in Champ Car next season but it will be really hard for him to fight back after blowing sponsorship opportunities, time and momentum in silly discussion with a team how obviously, without saying anything to BW and his management, during the last two month just played around with him and regarded him as a second choice after CD if his negotiations with N/H should fail.

Hasn't PKV test now in February with Dalziel och Wirdheim been planned since December?

I think it was decided already then. Of course it could be cancelled, now that da Matta (presumably) will be confirmed today. It would make sense for the team to have da Matta in that test instead of having two drivers they won't run.

I doubt PKV will run three cars - I imagine da Matta is expensive enough for the team not to have any realistic chances of finding the budget for a third car.

I don't think PKV has done anything strange. Any team with a chance would always consider signing a recent champion as da Matta, with F1 experience. It would be more strange if they had that option and didn't do it. I think both Wirdheim and Dalziel was aware of that possibility - after all, we are quite a few here who has been aware of that possibility for some time

Hopefully Bjorn can get something sorted out, he doesn't deserve to be on the scrapheap like this. But then, life isn't fair, is it? da Matta is a good addition to the series and should help lead PKV forward, but there are going to be vastly-inferior drivers to Bjorn on the grid in F1 let alone ChampCars.

For a driver who wasn't exactly overwhelmed with options, you'd think he wouldn't really have much room to make demands

But nonetheless I am happy that Shorty is back!

I'm sure this will surprise no one, but in the transcript of the CDM announcement on CC's site, they stated that the Dalziel/Wirdheim test has definately been cancelled and there will be no third car.

It says in that interview that this week he's having a bit of a pinball run between Daytona and Sebring, in that Today and Tomorrow morning he's at Daytona testing, then tomorrow aftertoon a dash back to sebring for a seat fitting and pedal check, Champcar testing at Sebring on Friday, then back to Daytona for the 24!

His idea apprently, he wants the practice after having a slightly extended off season thanks to Toyota!
