Ok, now my head hurts.
The logical explanation, I think, was that 001 was kept in a museum, and 002 and 003 were converted for 1998. |

OK we need to simplify this thread!
How many Chassis where made? Which where converted from Jaguar to WSC (Joest) Which where build as WSC (Joest) Which where later converted into the Porsche Lmp? And finely, which where put in a museum? |

One thing I can say for certain is that the Weaver/Raphanel/Murry car for 1998 is at the Porsche factory in Leipzig.

Ok gentlemen, this is the first and last time I'm going to post about this subject.
Chassis 591 was crashed by Davy Jones at Lime Rock. It was rebuilt as a show car and is kept in Duncan Dayton's shop. Chassis 691 was crashed by Davy Jones at Elkhart Lake ans was a write off. The remains were returned to TWR in England. (I would add that none of the accidents were Davy's fault, they were because no one ever did the IMSA load case for the wheels) Chassis 791 was used until the end of the 94 season and then became Porsche WSC 95-01. Porsche WSC 95-02 was built from a new chassis and was never, ever, used as a Jaguar. WSC 95-01 won Le Mans twice and is retained by Joest. WSC 95-02 is retained by Porsche in a museum. A "new" car was built by TWR using a new tub and given the chassis plate # 691. This car is still in England and is in the care of a very good owner. The TWO new Astec built tubs were used as follows, one was used to build WSC 95-02 and the other was used to re-build XJR-14-691 as a new car. There never was a third Porsche car. I hope this clears up what is really a simple situation, but very few people have ever asked. Tony Dowe |

So the double winner had an unlucky return in 1998 as a Porsche LMP?
How much different was the Porsche LMP from the TWR WSC? |

Regarding WSC-95 "003", that information comes out of Race Car Engineering Vol 6, No 2 page 60 which states:
"Three TWR-Porsche WSC cars have been built. The prototype was actually based upon a modified XJR-14 chassis, and had a 'packed down' 100-liter fuel tank. The other two monocoques, like all the XJR-14s, were built new in the UK by Astec (a TWR Group company) with 80-liter capacity tankage." |

Is it possible a monocoque was built but never became a full car?

Well in fairness the MXR-01s were all originals. None were rebadged Jags. 5 were built.
