Hmm, this will be the first time that the current chassis/engine(TBD) selection will be run by the team at this particular track, right? And nothing can be learned from that? Nothing on set-up, no driver benefits, not a real value?Amazing!

You do not have to, Mike is already planning on taking the team, isn't he? Or did I get that wrong too?

That's been known for several weeks. I was told the same thing 5 weeks ago at SEMA.

I think they need to stay with the drivers they had at Sebring this year - they're all faster than JV.

I wonder how Honda would feel about Montagny racing against Acura at Sebring if he remains in the family as part of AGR's IRL program?

That article contains several nuggets of good news. Jaguar, Toyota (??), and a third manufacturer seem to be working behind the scenes if this article is correct. Even better news is that it is not all GT.

Perhaps the "other alternative" could be thermoelectric waste heat recovery. Some studies say that it could be used to increase fuel economy by about 10%.

This could fill the bill for hybrid systems that are not directed at increased performance, but mainly fuel economy???? Could Toyota have been working on something like this?

I think the appearance of Peugeot at Sebring is a must do since the ACO cancelled the LM test days...

They're long races, and valuable for sure, but definitely NOT the sort of "trial by fire" you get from Sebring: both in terms of the track beating up the car and how much distance and time will be covered.

Some possible manufacturers for the secret LMP car scot atherton mentioned:
Aston Martin
Toyota
Nissan
BMW
Mercedes
Panoz

Considering that Aston Martin, Nissan,Mercedes, and panoz don't seem to have any current endeavors in fuels other than gas for most and diesel for mercedes.

I can see BMW or Toyota

Toyota could come with a gas hybrid.-but that is not a new fuel

BMW and Hydrogen
It's very possible that BMW will come with a Hydrogen Hybrid. It's New fuel and BMW already have the Hydrogen 7 ready to be leased sometime in 2009. BMW seem to have done the most work in Hydrogen power. What other resonable fuel is there. Explosives, Nuclear

I say it's a BMW.

I put my money on a Toyota. They have the knowledge to create a hybrid car and combine it with their ability to create some of the best sportscars. I don't think BMW is working on a proto because their already busy with their F1 and the GT2-project. I think one project in ALMS is enough for BMW, I can't see them working on two new cars for the same championship.

By the way, hydrogen is not that reasonable .

Hydrogen is not that reasonable, come to think of it. It is much less dense than Petrol so you could go alot farther on one gallon of Petrol.

The factory built Ford Fusion that raced at Bonneville, weighed 6,700 lbs.
(It's base chassis was the equivalent of a GARRA GT)

That was for short speed runs.
Hydrogen is NOT the new fuel.
