I've read quite a number of your replies in the past (both to myself and others) and interpreted them as rude rather than strongly conveying a point.

As you say though, points can easily be taken out of context when read rather than spoken, so if it wasn't your intention to offend then I retract my previous statement.

I'm sure if we were to all sit down in a pub, there wouldn't be a great deal of difference in the opinions of the older and newer fans. Most, if not all, of us seem to agree that PR (or lack there of) was the major failing of the ERC in its previous guise, and its that issue which I (and I assume others) were hoping IMG would solve.

So far I'm yet to be convinced. I don't think they have ruined rallycross or anything (I daresay it'll be the end of 2013 before anyone has the evidence to support or disprove such a statement), but at this point the PR for the series hasn't been as strong as I was hoping.

Anyway, moving back on topic again, today is the launch day, so I wonder what we will learn? (And what website will break the news first... )

Fair enough, I would much rather be rude than be a wallflower who thinks the world is concerned by what I write, and subsequently carefully consider each and every post like a job application!!! (not an attack on you or anyone just an observation.)

If people dont speak out then the world would always think everything is rosy. We all knew there were issues witht he tracks in GRC last year, its pointless just sitting there saying "accidents happen"

We all knew two European championships, like 2 British championships is a stupid idea, yet hwere we are. We all know that all these big sponsors wont stick around as soon as tv deals fall over and people arent going or they ahve invested heavily and get no reurn, and where are we then, two championships again with no future.

Just needed a bit more thought and planning.

Well... they of course had challenges spacewise considering the 25 worldwide tv-channel crews had to build up their gear somewhere. And so they left out the biggest news outlet in Rallycross. Everybody would do it like that

Just the one picture for the moment but was good to see the supercars pushing really hard especially Jos Jansen. Also love the new Polo of Anton Marklund.

I thought the same thing! Given that he has been the only driver on the official site for the last month perhaps they decided to let the rest of them get some attention?

Was surprised that neither of the Dorans were testing today. Great to see the retro cars out on track. Wasn't sure on the livery, but the Marklund Polo certainly seemed to be going well.

Also went for a spin in a Swift. Wished I'd had the funding for more then one session as I thoroughly enjoyed it and would quite happily have spent more of the day doing that!

PS: Great picture Dex!

We were under the impression yesterday was ÂŁ100 per car not per driver. Did anyone else think this?

USRallycross should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Just got home after the long 'ride'. Just want to say thanks to Shirley Gibson and Sarah at Swift Rallycross for a fun day yesterday.

Didn't quite know what to expect with the Mk1 and only drove it for the first time to the dummy grid and duly spun on the first lap through Chessons but loved driving the car and boy was it hard work!

Got a lot of positive comments re its period livery and Graham Hathaway was an interested spectator (there for his grandson to drive a Swift) and Haynes of Maidstone who have helped us were very pleased.

Also good to see the retro cars of Marc Griffin, Mark Thomas and Russell Crampton - hope the latters engine issues weren't too serious at the end. Shirley also hosted a meeting of the Retro drivers and the plans are really exciting. An RS200 will join shortly and several more Escorts and other cars.

Got out of the car smiling everytime and even got to take my wonderful wife for several laps. Totally fun day and worth the trip.

Mark

Have to say a huge thank you to all the team at Swiftsport & Lydden for a great weekend of testing at Lydden.

Car ran faultless until lunch time when i lost my brakes but its an easy fix so looking forward to the first race next month.

Have been invite to join the retro rallycross class with my car but just can not decide if i want to give the SN a run this year to see if i can chase the big boys cars?

Anyone got any pictures of my 205 or what web site to look for them on as i have searched the web but can not find them?

The official Lydden Hill photographer (Rubber Duck) has a page for the day here:

http://rallyx.rubberduckdoes.com/2013/20130223_TestDay/

Can see a couple of your car (assuming it was the red Dimma style 205?) on there. Saw quite a few blue bibs around on the day, so I'd expect more official pictures to come out.

I don't think I got any of your car, but I'll have a look this evening. Dex may have got some as well!

EDIT: Anyone know who was driving the RX150 that lost the wheel?

I think there were two "Hickey" (1 yellow, 1 red, both cosmetically standard) 205's? I assumed it was the other 205 that belonged to Hawkesfire?...

Looks like there was a good turn out of cars and the retros look like really taking off this year. It was a shame it was only a test day. Morning testing, followed by a 1 off winter meeting with some kind of title consisting of 2 or 3 heats and finals in the afternoon and id have been there!

Yep we had the two standard 205s, skidding all over the place, grass tracking. I had a moment, launching off the grass bank alongside the start line. I don't think the cameraman on the bank got it as he was focused on me intently the next few times I came by!
