I missed this earlier. Do you have anymore info on this? I don't think he did much racing in Australia after the end of Group C. How did he end up in Sweden?

Brocky's car in '75 still had all the gun factory bits on it as Holden were just interested in winning the race with any team.(Hence the injustice Harvey suffered in '76)

Mixxer, While Bob Jane was a reasonable driver he was not in the same class as Ian Geoghegan or Peter Brock. He always had the best equipment money could buy.

Bob Jane also won the championship in '62 & '63. Jane also won Phillip Island/Bathurst 500 4 years in a row, '61-'64.

I agree though that he was very good, but big 'Pete' is one of the all-time greatest.

I'd like to add John Harvey to my list. Anyone who can survive racing Speedcars back in the late 50's had to be good. And while he didn't have too many successes in touring cars, he never really got a fair crack at it - he might have been in the HDT, but that didn't mean he always had a good car.

With a name like that, he's undoubtedly in pursuit of anonymity.

One name not mentioned in here was Colin Bond. A pretty fair driver in Touring Cars, Rally and also drove Porsche Sports Sedans and F5000 for Frank Matich.

What is the captain up to these days.

I always loved how in the Great Race books he would list his occupation as 'Gentleman'
