When F1 invites people into the PADDOCK to take pictures with Juan and Michael at INDY, you are talking a serious number problem. I adore racing more than anyone, but I refuse to hide my head in the sand. This series is in trouble.. and until Ferrari stops dominating it, it will continue to die. |

The funny thing is that we're talking about a team that up until four years ago hadn't won a driver's championship in 20 years. Things run in cycles - once Michael retires, someone else will probably dominate for a while. Years like 1982 are the exception, not the rule - there's usually one dominant team in F1 at any one time.

Here is another the way to look at this subject ferrari to quit. Could it be that they have won so much in such a short amount of time that race wins are not doing anything for the ferrari name at the moment. I think f1 is 80% business and 20% sport and could it be that someone within ferrari has looked at the figures concerning the piles of money they pump into f1 each season and ask what is this doing for us. Look back at the last gp at imla there seemed to be more interest in button and bar coming in second rather than ferrari winning in fact some of the races this season we havent seen much of the ferrari's dew to the fact they where so far ahead well one of them but that is television if the races are boring viewers will change the channel. As i say could it be that ferrari are wodering what are we getting out of this

Mags I'm not sure what life is like on your planet, but I trust you enjoy it.
Have you BEEN to an F1 race recently? Do you WATCH the tv coverage? Ferrari's exit from F1 would please a number of f1 "fans" who are so bitter and twisted that their hatred of Ferrari rises above all else. Thankfully they are few in number. However, if F1 loses Ferrari it loses (by my guess) between a quarter and a half of its entire fan base. Now, on my (admittedly somewhat simplistic) planet, that is no way to "rescue" F1. Take off your blinkers and try my rose tinted sunglasses instead, my friend... |

I have to back you up here Mags concerning the drop in television ratings. I heard a peace on a money show on bbc radio 5 live a few weeks ago where they reported that there was a massive drop in viewing figures world wide for f1. I dont think ferrari are killing f1 i think the blame for that is the Michael schumacher contract, for god sake ferrari pull the finger out and sign another top driver with NO team orders and lets see some racing please for the sake of the sport

While I would agree that the TV ratings dropped since 2000, that is not a problem strictly related to F1. Every other sports lost audience. Either way, 25%!! Please show me what part did I miss:

Wow...ok so when it's not Ferrari's fault, it's Michael's fault, or it's Ferrari's contract fault...as long as it's Ferrari linked. And i believe that last time i check, Michael didn't have 19 team mates and the grid had more than 2 cars... so question : "For the sake of our sports, why didn't we see RACING from the other 9 teams, 18 drivers???" ...i remember it vaguely had something to do with Ferrari doing a good job while others choked And last time i check, in recent years Ferrari had the strongest pairing of the top 3 teams, and Michael had a better teammate than Montoya, Mika and Kimi. OoOh..right..i forgot.."team orders"... There's always something to blame.. |

As long as F1 is on telly then I am not really bothered how popular it is. In terms of the sport I can see advantages to going back to lesser audiences. I can also see advatanges to increasing exposure (digital again?).

I find it mad(dening) that when another series lets fans walk through the paddock or down the pit lane it is appauled and then when F1 learns something off them it is berated. Quote:
And in summary I guess all this talk of TV viewers is relative. |

-----------------------------------------------------------Ferrari are linked and this not a i hate ferrari thread. They produced an amazing car and with it a set of amazing standards in f1. All i am saying is i would love to see another driver to team up with michael someone like kimi it would be great for the sport and great for ferrari and would make there period of domination more interesting. By the way does anyone know how much ferrari are spending per year on there f1 team |
