It's areal pity. I was looking forward to it. I marshalled at the Snet meeting last year and really enjoyed the racing. Certainly sharpened my blue flagging, something I hadn't done for a while. It was a good grid and great to see the Continentals come over. No interest from Europe this year?

Are SuperTourers too expensive to run in Britcar ? I Imagine they would go quite well.

Yes they would go well, very well in fact. However, are you aware of the phrase " the light that shines twice as bright lives half as long", well this applies to Super Tourers. They are sprinters not marathon runners....and then they need to be wrapped in cotton wool and spoken to sweetly so they don't break.

So given that this series is dead, where will the various super tourers actually be racing this year?

Personally speaking it's a toss up between the Track and Race Car saloon series or the Euro Saloons. Both are good Championships with some quick machinery in both. Ultimately it will come down to circuit choice I think.

"Track and Race" will have cheaper entry fees, and not too much travelling, provided you are southern based.

Euro Saloons is pretty southern based this season with 3 meets at Brands, one at Silverstone, one at Castle Combe. Of course there are the obligatory trips to Cadwell, Oulton, Mallory, Snetterton and a season finale at Rockingham to look forward too

I like a bit of variety

What are the entry fees like for Euro saloons, I heard £310 for a double race at Brands.

You heard right:

April 10 Silverstone National £175
April 16 Castle Combe £175
May 2 Brands Indy £200
May 14/15 Pembrey Double Header £260
June 19 Cadwell Park £175
July 9/10 Brands Indy Double Header £310
August 20 Oulton Park International £175
September 4 Mallory Park £175
September 24/25 Snetterton Double Header £285
October 8 Rockingham £175

£75 to register with the series for the season, or £10 per race meeting if you just want to do the occasional meet

I'm chucking my hat in with Track & Race cars for as much of the season as I can, but I'm planning visits to Cadwell with either Eurosaloons, or BARC NW K&N Sports/Saloons, and to Castle Combe for the GT's (providing I can keep it quiet enough!)

The registration fee for Eurosaloons is neither here nor there. The Track & Race cars is free.

But £310 for a double header at Brands Indy - what are they thinking of? Rod - how much is our event at Brands on the 18th of next month?

Rob.

Even so Eurosaloons attracted 23 entries ( not registrations) at their first race , the very first of the season on 13th March !!!, the series also has 14 races at multi circuits.

With the shortage of funds as it is we are thankfull for Eurosaloons, the series sponsors are putting a lot off effort into this series and should be thanked not receiving cheap digs from other race series.

We are also looking forward to seeing your car actually race this year as weve heard a lot but seen little of it.

Euro saloons had 18 entries not 23. 22 cars qualified 4 of them Extreme mini's.
18 is still a good field and there were good battles throughout the field, however Peter Challis really needs other tourers out there to give him a race. Avro, seems that there was a slight dig about racing59, not neccessary seeing as your 2 cars where not out.

Euro Saloons did have some good racing thoughout the field so was quite decent to watch. And as you say, 18 ES cars out there (along with 4 Minis) for a race in early March, but at least 5 or 6 of the regular drivers from last season (including me) couldn't get their cars running in time, but most of us will be at Silverstone on 10 April, so a decent chance of a seriously decent size grid

As Avro says, LMA ate putting a lot of effort into this series, a lot of new drivers all down the field (there are 7 classes) have joined the series and many more have expressed interest. I'm led to believe that the Super Coupe Cup is in dire straights and that will probably lead to more defections to LMA ES

Avro wasn't digging! He was spurring me on!!
My problem is a lack of available time to work on my car. Last year my problems were compounded when my local engine builder's patner in crime was struck down with an anurism, leading to a major delay in getting the engine finished. He had it in July, I got it back in November!

Things are looking up and it "should" be finished ready for April 18th at Brands.

So, Avro, are you coming out???

Rob

we will be out to play at Silverstone on 10th April, with 2 cars, where are you racing next yeltnob ?.

And Yes as rob says 'spurring on not digging at', but 2 points, 1, for years I have listened to people ranting over small grid sizes, super tourers not racing, thundersaloons etc.. etc.., with the exception of people like garry, and rod most of those people dont race, and most probably will never race , 2. There is a general apathy in our sport that in my opinion is getting worse, racers seem to want to pick races close to home, whilst I can understand it, it does not make the job of organising decent races with good grids easy as the likes of the BRSCC and BARC and others organisers having to commit time and resourse to series that might ask drivers to race at circuits that take them 2-3 hours up a motorway.

I stated some time back that Euro Saloons and Track Cars should have merged this year, then the select drivers that want to race locally can but others that wish to sample the delights of Oulton, Rockingham and Pembrey can, and this could and would lead to a full grid of cars at most races.

I was told of a saying that is beginning to hold up, ' True racers race, others just talk about it'.

Given that the T&RC series is all Southern based then surely it is the case that its for the locals? And local to me too - but I like the variety that comes with trekking round the country. Only Silverstone (less than 1 hour) is anything like local to me, can't get to any other circuit in less than 1.5 hours, and only Brands, Castle Combe and Mallory are within 2 hours

As pointed out above, Euro Saloons has set up with single race registration this season to encourage one off drives anywhere

And there's me making up braided hoses for the oil system today, and I get this thought, so I measure the hump that's going to be on the bonnet, and it's 1/2" too high for the Track & Race Car regs (. What do I do? Scream? run around shouting "Don't panic, don't panic" or take a look at the engine mountings, and see if I can re-site the lump.

These things are sent to try us. Blessed is the plasma cutter and the mig welder for it shall fit, oh yes, it shall fit!

I should really stop typing tripe on here and go and do a bit more, but you have to put your feet up sometime!

Did I miss something? Peter, missus, baby, on time.... best of luck. Thomas here is 5 weeks old, and sleep, what's that? Forgotten what it's about almost! No, really, he's a diamond, and will be along to run the team this season!

When's the happy event due? is it your 1st, 2nd, 3rd?...... 9th....??
