It does sound like a weird deal, Spyker bought Saab with the money 'made' selling Spykers but now the Spyker sportscar division is immaterial (the CEO's word) and the cash needed is more important? And sold back to Antonov, who owned 30% of the company before GM made Spyker buy him out before selling them Saab.
Any odds on if they will be on ANY grids in 2012 or beyond? |

There was a lot more money in that business than was made selling a handfull of sportscars and the sportscars sure as hell didnt produce enough to buy and operate Saab.

I know they were losing money, that's why I said 'money.' And the CEO's own words in an article on LeftLane News said they used the assets of Spyker cars to buy into Saab. Now selling for a seemingly low price of 15 mill Euros with an additional 17 mill earn-out. Sorry tree care/butcher, what's an earn-out and how does that help them decrease their old debt? What other businesses did Spyker run or invest in, and how much money, if any, did they have left from selling the F1 team? Seems like they had to be doing something other than selling beautiful but RARE cars at a loss.
As for them coming back racing, I guess I was indirectly asking about Antonov's involvement. Was/is he a racing fan or is he more into the street car side of the business? I hadn't heard of him until the GM dealings last year, and nothing sounded bad just sounded like no one on the US side of GM trusted him. |

If so would be make sense and hopefully raise chances of seeing Spyker on the grid again. |

Why? The Russian man who owns CPP and now bought Spyker is the same who paid for the Snoras sponsorship on the car in recent year.

Vladimir Antonov is behind Snoras Bank and Convers Group, the (title) sponsors of Spyker Squadron in recent years.
The fact that he signed a memorandum of understanding to take over Spyker from Victor Muller could be seen as positive as this means full focus will be on the sportscars again...and if the new C8 Ailerons will be rolling out of the factory, the race team could be used as marketing tool again. No point in putting money in yet another season with the old lady Mind you that the production line had already been moved from The Netherlands to Coventry in 2009, with the intention to build the C8 Aileron in the UK. |

Plus they are adding the new Vette ZR-1 lump in the back of the street car. Now if they could get GM to sell them the previous seasons C6R's engine package for a GT2 effort, wishful thinking I know but maybe they could convince GM it would be worth it economically. And does anyone think Spyker could challenge GM for dominance in the ILMC? Assuming the Vettes stayed ALMS and the Spykers most likely in the LMS of course.

Fantastic news! A worthy successor to the C8, looks unique in the Spyker way. Cant wait to see them with the new machine in 2012.

The car looks very impressive and I too love to see it in 2012.
One thing keeps on miggeling with me though. Why is traitor Muller keeping the Spyker name? I say, if one sells of the marque, one logically loses the name as well. |

Good news for the marque, sad news for the dutch. Only the name now bears dutch heritage.

Well, that has been how it is ever since they moved production to Coventry, over 2 years ago?
There's a C8 in the Coventry Motor Museum, right in the entrance. Welcoming 'Coventry's Newest Car Brand'... |

Well, it has been a long time since we heard anything about Spyker, is there someone among us who knows what will happen to them now? Still think it would be a shame if they were not to be seen anymore but I fear the worst since no news about Spyker is coming out anymore and the current Saab / swedish automobiles situation.

Swedish Auto sold the "sportscar Spyker" to American investment company North Street Capital. However Antonov owns Spyker supplier CPP ...
