Kubica thinks something is amiss in his car, thus accounting for the difference with Russell. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...Xz85lzp4d.html
If so, it's going to a mighty achievement of his to see him beating Russell if that comes to fruition. |

Well in qualifying today the Williams were 1.5 seconds slower than the car ahead. That's a big gap in club racing - for Formula 1 that's an absolute age. They seem to be the only team that's not recovered the downforce lost in the regulation changes - presumably that's why they're advertising jobs for anyone who can spell 'aerodynamics'.

I won't be surprised if Williams are forced to pack it in and park it in the garage for good.

I just watched my recording of the Channel 4 qualifying show and they had a very direct interview with Claire Williams who seemed to take all of the criticism well. A couple of things she said that I found interesting were that Sir Patrick's input is factory based, and only a couple of days a week. Secondly, that they do appear to have major aerodynamic problems as the car has less downforce and more drag, this could explain the recent job advertisements.

Why can't someone internal whistle blow and tell us what is really going on? That would be some juicy gossip.

Most likely because they'd never get another job in top-level motorsport or (if they're involved in manufacturing) in high-level commercially sensitive manufacturing, ever again. It's a very, very small world.

Maybe because the majority of the staff involved are good people with families who would rather not disrespect their employer just to satisfy a bunch of keyBoard warrior’s pathetic morbid curiosity? Just saying ...

Not sure if some of what she said has been lost in translation (original interview was in a French magazine apparently) but according to this article Claire Williams is admitting fault for instigating the change of internal structure within the team back in 2014-15 period that has lead to the current problems.
Lot of work to get done if the ship is going to be turned around by the sound of it. |

Makes a nice change for the team principal to admit fault and not play the blame game. They do need to get it sorted though

Looks like Lowe will walk away from this covered in egg for things that would seem to be beyond his control, and nobody will be any the wiser, other than the vaguely reported mutterings that nobody knows who they actually report to at Williams. |

Paddy Lowe, was originally with Williams from 1987 - 1993.

So Clare Williams has finally taken responsibility for this unholy mess but is yet to do the right thing. In the meantime her brother who has front running team is in exile in the historic department..... what a mess

That's a little harsh. Running a historic racing team with wealthy customers just playing at racing in cars whose specification is fixed can hardly be compared to being at the cutting edge.

According to Joe Saward the departure of Lowe will be a messy legal challenge, so doubt we will see CW refer to it whilst that is going on, if at all as any 'settlement' may be on non-disclosure' terms, as is common these days. |

I think the successful team is/was a GP2 team, not Williams Heritage

IMO it looks to be a place that people take their careers to die, it would be interesting to see a list of people who have survived Williams to be successful elsewhere, there are some like Newey and Wolff, but boy are there a lot that it hasn't worked out well for. |
