Maybe it's just more of a challenge Bouchut's looking for...

FIA GT website - link from Ratel's speech article, and in results section - the entry list for the opening round at Monza. They have "tba" for any drivers at Konrad and Reiter - seems like quite a lot of places still to be filled...?

I see Ratel talks about moving to a 2 hour race format for TV purposes and having 'only a few races in Europe'.

Surely this will force more teams into the LMES and up costs in FIA GT. You will require the very latest equipment, plus two top line professional drivers to be competitive.

The longer LMES evets give more opportunity to the smaller teams were tatics and reliabilty are big factiors in the outcome of a race.

Alzen/Naspetti and Lechner jr/Konrad confirmed for the Konrad entries. Franz may be replaced by Robert Lechner in the 2nd car, but thats not 100% confirmed yet..

Hi, thanks for the welcome. How about changing your piccy from Konrad to GNM S7!

Some info for you - we had our first Pirelli run at Sebring -tyres were Mega! Big improvement over Dunlop but then Pirelli have put a major amount of development into the tyres and Dunlop hadn't, having their hands tied since the Goodyear merger. We could have done 3 stints on Pirelli's at Sebring, they were 'that' good. In my opinion the best tyre there is for the Saleen!
cheers

Hi, thanks for the interest. I'm afraid right now I cannot tell you that. We are in negotiation with a ex-DTM and factory GT driver and another with a similar history -both have been in FIA GT in the recent past. If we test on Saturday at Ricard these guys will most likely in the car that day. It depends on confirmation of contracts. Keep an eye on our website - www.grahamnashmotorsport.com and planetlemans.com for news.

Many thanks

Pirelli sure seems to be the tire to beat indeed, esp. for mid-engined cars. Dunlop has a bit of a fallback in development as you said, and Michelin seemed to focus much more on the front-engined cars from Pratt&Miller and Prodrive. Do you think it helped a lot for the Saleen that the Konrad and Vitaphone drove on them last year already?

Hi there GNM1. I'm so pleased you decided to run two cars this year after the flashes of brillance last year, I hope it all works out for you this year

Jag, I really hope so. I always get depressed with "transition" periods. Porsche, Audi, Nissan, Peugeot - sounds fantastic, but nothing concrete yet apart from Audi. Then we have Audi 'v' erm Audi in P1 with little else.

Yes, for sure it helped some, but the mainstay of the development that we are going to benefit from was with the Maserati - over 20.000kms of testing miles courtesy of Andrea Bertolini. The tyre-damper combination is what made the difference with the Konrad car over ours - we had a better engine package and faster in a straight line overall, so now with all 3 parts in place we should be up there - fingers crossed!! thanks

Thanks very much Duffacus...this year will be back to 2 cars after a sabbatical in 2004. More work, more money involved but it should work out. The car we ran in Sebring was a total ground up rebuild - it was our Le Mans 2002/2003 chassis (remember the Vodafone car?) and had not run for over 12 months...the chassis is very good but both this car and the #7 car that Paolo Ruberti will drive will be equal.

Depending on who is driving, we should get better results in FIA GT than we did last year. I think Joel (Camathias) will do a very good job as team mate to Poalo. And Paolo will be in the lMES with us too - so we should show well there also. He is a fantastic talent and really came to the fore when we signed him at the start of 2004. Easily one of the top 3 drivers I have worked with in my 18 years in GT racing.

Many thanks

dont know why they put the ALD Automotive decals on it.. im pretty positive those wont be on the car (its a sponsor related to Eric Van De Poele, and has been with Konrad for the past 2 years) only reason it was on the Vitaphone Saleen last year was that Konrad ran the team)
Eric v/d Poele will drive one of the Vitaphone Racing Maserati's during the 24h of Spa.

Belgian drivers who will drive at Spa for Labre Competition:

  • Kurt Mollekens and Vincent Vosse will partner Pedro Lamy en Gabriele Gardel.
  • Fred Bouvy will partner Enzo Calderari and Lilian Bryner (and Steve Zacchia?)

Is it too much to say that we would be very pleased to cheer a Saleen victory (in class or overall) on a long run ? (Spa, LMES, ALMS... LM)

Sounds like Uwe Alzen, but Uwe is at Konrad, I think. Second driver sounds like Paul Knapfield....

So, Beppe Gabbiani won't be driving the Saleen in FIA-GT...

It was confirmed by Franz Konrad over a week ago! I broke the news here, and nobody seemed to care then

now, it looks as if Robert Lechner will partner his brother in the 2nd Saleen. And that would be even a stronger lineup
