It looks like I'll be driving into the city as far as is practical, then "scooting" the rest of the way. |

As someone never being even close to the track I didn't realize how much of the trees were gone at Arnage section until...

As always thank you Eric.
I'm one of those people who is generally resistant to change. However those changes to Arnage/Indy actually look like something I could be on board with. Does anyone else take it personally when changes are made to the circuit? Like I watch Eric's videos and feel like they've changed something that belongs to me. And I've only been three times, I can't imagine how it must feel for some of you who have been going for decades! |

When they moved the bridge at Laguna Seca up to the top of the corkscrew, destroying what is one of the most iconic views in motorsports, I felt personally violated...wanted to burn it down.
However, the changes at Arnage look pretty damn good - they didn't change the racing circuit, and restored the viewing area lost to the large gravel trap, Looks like the berm down track from the trap is a prime viewing area. |

I have some issues to import my small videos. But I can tell you that the new spots at Indianapolis are fantastic. You can take good pictures above the fence with a telephoto lens.
Near the junction of the two new mounds, you see the side of the cars from the fast right kink to Indianapolis. A dream for photography enthusiasts. |

The view from the area for the disabled, at the centre of Indianapolis turn, is unfortunately not very good because the sight is restricted by two successive fences : the catch fencing (where there is nothing more to catch IMO) and a high fence preventing people from going and drowning into a new rain overflow basin.
Depending on the performance of your scooter, maybe you can get on the bigger mounds with some help and if the soil is not wet to much. But there is apparently no specific way for disabled people so far. Here is a video Last edited by PascaLM; 6 Jun 2016 at 13:34. Reason: + link video |

My concern is not so much with the view being obstructed by the catch fence (after all, I've suffered it for the past 32 years and I'm used to it now), but by the number of people who seem not to be handicapped in any way, but who are standing at the front of the handicapped area, or sitting on the kerbing at the front edge. I couldn't see any signs indicating that it's an area reserved for the disabled. I suspect from what I can see 11-12 seconds into your video, that during the race, my chances of being able to see anything of the race may be very limited. Assuming the inclines are as steep as they used to be before the changes, there's absolutely no chance that my scooter would be able to climb a grass slope. I guess I'll have to wait until next week to find out. |

New photography spot
In addition to Eric's videos, here are mine. Please forgive my old small camera for the bad quality, the dusty len and the Google's stabilisation. Just for your information.

What are the thoughts on the new viewing area at arnarge overall? Better? Worse? Wasn't there yesterday but would be good to hear from someone who was, was gutted to hear it was all going to be changed as it's probably my favourite spot!

For 2017, judging by the incidents at the race this year, there are quite a few new places where I suspect (more) asphalt runoff will be laid to replace gravel or grass or extend the existing asphalt. However I would say one place is sadly extremely certain, mark my words:

Somehow I was now more bothered by the asphalt shoulders between Mulsanne-Porsche Curves than last year. Perhaps they just sticked out more because I watched some old races (80-90s old) last week.
So much less green and in the rain it was hard to see where the road even goes. |
