Nakano has yet to be tested at the highest level, that is getting regularly race wins and podiums. Some people do it and others are eternal promises.
In lesser teams, one never knows exactly how much is because rider's skill or because one day the bike "is better" than other day. Nakano is a very good rider, who can doubt it?, but is he prepared to meet Rossi, Pedrosa, Capirossi along a season? I hope so, but let's see. |

Problem with Shinya is though that he is a bit of a one style rider, he cant seem to be able to ride the bike with a knackered tyre like the top men can.
And there is NOOOO way Bridgestone will be allowed to run on a HRC bike againm not after Tamada embarasses HRC by winning two races on a customer bike, beating the Repsol bikes! Just seen a load of pictures of the 800 Honda, really weird looking bike, no seat unit at all, just a seat, you can see the fuel tank under the riders bum, and also on the left side one of the pipes exits the fairing just behind the front wheel! Looks stunning though the fabrication is awesome |

Tamada's a hard rider to judge. It could be that his 2004 results were more down to Bridgestone than anything else, as he hasn't been competitive since, although it could be that the team isn't as strong or the Michelins don't suit him.
I can't see Colin returning to WSBK - he may retire altogether if no MotoGP ride comes up. That would be a shame, as he's been as close to Rossi as a lot of other good people, and there's nobody else who I think would make a really good #2. At a push, Nakano, but I think he'd take the Konica ride above that. |

Crash.net reports that Fausto Gresini has managed to re-sign Marco Melandri. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else, but it's surprising and yet not surprising at the same time. If he stays healthy I think Melandri could threaten on the Honda 800 machine. They also report the possibility of Gresini racing on Bridgestone tires next year.

Fantastic. More that i'm happy that Sete should keep the seat than anything else.

Not too sure about teh Brigestone thing with gresini, I know for a fact than Montiron was desperate to have Tamada on Bridgies in 2005 but HRC wouldnt allow it! Doesnt do for a leased bike to beat the works bikes maybe...
I am not sure about Sete either, I think he deserves the ride though but I think he maybe under threat from many places, that is an old team if you look at rider ages! More positive is the possibility of Leon Haslam on the number 2 gresini bike, but then again if they have lost Fortuna I would imagine they might have to take a pay rider. By the way go on youtube and type in 800ccGP or something similar! You will get footage of the new Honda, Yamaha and Ducati bikes testing. Hona is tiiiinnnnyyyy! |

Lots of speculation here:
http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2006/Oct/tb/061008x.htm Tamada to Gresini is a new one that I hadn't heard. Still a lot of seats to be sorted out though. Oh yes, and this Biaggi non-sense is quite humorous. |

I have a brilliant idea: Biaggi to team with Vale in Yamaha? It WOULD be humorous and entertaining indeed!

i would like to see Chris Vermulen on a better bike but seeing it is most likely he will stay at Suzuki i hope that their 800 is more competitive as i would like to see both Chris and Hopper on the podium and winning.

I think you will have your wish pwr, the Suzuki this year has been a rolling test bed for a lot of the parts that are gonna be fitted to the 800 bike. It has run with pneumatic valves for instance and a real short stroke like the 800 will.
Also they have often been right up there in the races, I think really its only electronics and power that have let them down. plus the Bridgestone tyres are awful to ride apparently when they lose edge grip, Hopper and Chris simply plummt down the field when the tyres go off, whereas the Ducati seems more able to stay consistent. Now this can be down to eitehr riding styles, Ducati getting better tyres or the electronics helping the Dukes more than the otehr Bridge teams? |

Nakano will not be returning with Kawasaki next year. Not to mention, it doesn't exactly sound like Kawasaki are on the ball with their 800cc machine.

Is it Nakano to a Honda then? That could be good.
Edwards is close to signing with Camel Yamaha for next season, according to Eurosport commentators. Colin confirmed this to them himself apparently. That is absolutely fantastic news! |

Colin staying with Yamaha seems to be solid. He and Rossi seem to get on well and with another season under his belt, he should do even better next season. It's always going to be tough for Colin riding next to Rossi, but I think he is smart enough to realise his situation.
I think the big question will revolve around the Repsol team now. After the shenanigans of today, what will they do with Hayden and Pedrosa? It's a pretty strong rumour that they don't really get on, but after today I don't think they'll work well at all. Team-mate or not, having something like that happen will have a detrimental effect on team spirit and how everyone will interact for the benefit of the team as whole. |

It's a big shame that Team Roberts can't find the funding for a second bike. Two KR machines at the sharp end would really help to mix things up.
I don't think Ellison will be back with Tech 3 Yamaha either, unless I missed an announcement. Back to British or World Superbikes I think. Last edited by Silk Cut Jaguar; 16 Oct 2006 at 16:00. |
