Could we see some cuts in LMP1 programs for Audi and Porsche, after the VW scandal ?

Well, if the latest draft F1 calendar is accurate, we know that at least one of the winning drivers from this year will not be able to participate. The Azerbaijan GP has just been moved to (conveniently) be on the same weekend as Le Mans. So any hopes people like Hulkenberg or Alonso might have had to dovetail a Le Mans effort next year with a F1 schedule seem to have been blown up by BCE.

Bernie Ecclestone, never change.
The "final" version is out next Wednesday, right? Le Mans aside I can't see any team being pleased with having to make a trip just shy of 9000km in a couple of days. I wouldn't be surprised to see Baku moved to accommodate the trip or to be back-to-back with a closer race by (in?) March next year, just in time for any F1 drivers to have already factored a no-show at LM into their plans. Edit - A one week delay to Azerbaijan would put it just before Austria which would probably be enough to placate the grid. Just don't expect the announcement to be made any time soon. |

Took all of what, two years for the FIA to cave in on this no clash rule. Predictable. Pathetic.

Are you suggesting that they are trying to score points off Le Mans by making sure no drivers can do both, surely that could not be true, but perhaps given a choice between a race in Azerbaijan and the greatest single race in the calender the TV audience is unlikely to care much about a procession of cars following the two mercedes again

It has always been a tactic of tv companies to put a show that is falling in ratings on after a big draw event to try and regain audience numbers.

The token gesture re: start/finish times sidesteps the issue of drivers not being able to do both. It's not as if there's going to be a massive crossover audience, or a big audience for either event - Le Mans because (even as the world's biggest sportscar race) it is still a niche of a niche and Baku because of F1's dwindling viewers and a general lack of interest.
Breaking news: I can exclusively reveal the reaction to the WMSC's provisional calendar on Sodor Island. Last edited by J Jay; 30 Sep 2015 at 18:44. |

Okay maybe it opens the door for Montoya but this is honestly so predictable.
When all the talk was about Le Mans on the Friday at the Austrian GP you just knew that it was going to end badly. |

Don't forget that the Spa WEC round was supposed to clash with the Korean GP, and what a race the 2015 Korean GP was...
But the Azerbaijan GP is much more likely to actually take place than the Korean GP ever was. As blatant as it is though, I cannot see Baku being only one week after Canada. That's surely a flight too far for the teams. |

Montoya to Le Mans with Porsche would be fine for me, shame that the Hulk might not be there but Montoya would be a great replacement.

They're talking about JPM for 2017 again now. Seems like he's under a watertight Penske contract for 2016, but he's a free agent for 2017 and one of his kids is planning to move into a European-based karting championship in 2017.

Dear Ebenezer Ecclestone,
On behalf of the 10/10ths Le Mans Group it is our deepest wish that you have a very merry Christmas this coming season. Also we all hate you. With regards, Chi |

Dario Capitanio
After winning the Renault Sport endurance trophy at Le Mans last weekend, Dario Capitanio wins a drive in LMP2 at LM next year apparently but Renault Sport website does not make clear with which team

Cool thanks I'd forgotten about this prize drive. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Is this the series for those RS01 GT-type things? Not quite understood the point of it.

So French Panis is to form new French team next year with French footballer-celebrity Bartez driving, utlizing French Oak Coupe. That's entry that will have absolutely quaranteed grid spot at Sarthe then.
How does that work, does Renault either pay for team X to have him there, or does he go to Renault-related entity (ie fake Oreca-Alpine of Signatech)? |

But regardless, yes this team seems pretty much as guaranteed a Le Mans spot as Audi and Porsche. |

Ligier is the rebranded title of it, but the car's been made and supplied by Oak/Onroak and I always prefer to refer to these chassis by factual names

Anyway, I like honest names, just like I know Sam Collins does too. For example, the Gibsons are (Reynard-)Zyteks |
