I remember back in the days of Thundersaloons, and the BRDC Metro Challenge, there were all sorts of protests about the use of a certain fuel, none of which were successful because the fuel company never specified how much toluene was actually in their fuel, only that it contained "some", within a range of not a lot, to quite a bit!
To that end, something like a 20L drum of Toluene was emptied into a 205L drum of their Super Unleaded, and a fair amount extra advance could be applied to the motor, and subsequent increase in power. |

Approximately 190 of Tesco’s filling stations sell petrol with a 5 per cent blend of ethanol. Click HERE for complete text.

my dad has been delivering fuel for Tesco for the past 10 years........they get their fuel from the same place as all the other petrol stations.......its just cheap old 5hit that has been imported......BUT......I have heard they can re-process the fuel again to put the octane value back up by blowing gas through it........He's in Thailand at the mo, I will ask him when he gets back

the question is whether the 5% blend of ethanol is a good or a bad thing for our purposes
i have probably misunderstood the point made before but didn't someone say that ethanol is a trick to increase octane but lower calorific value we want high calorific value don't we?? apologies in advance for ignorance and so forth - by the way, the club card stuff was interesting....arf arf... |
