Porsche 991 RSR has been equipped with the old engine because the car has not been derived from the GT3 or GT3 RS version, but from the Carrera. So, it has not been possible to obtain the homologation of the new engine. When new GT3 RS will be launched, it will be possibile obtain the homologation for new engine, according with the rules. So, that's why Porsche has done this choice.
I don't think is a shame. |

I think it is a shame because from what I hear, the new engine is quite special.

I think Porsche should have raced in the ALMS with the new car, because there are more factory teams here.
For me the ALMS GT is more important than WEC GTE. In the WEC all media coverage is for the LMP1. |

Corvette, BMW and Viper race ALMS. (3 teams) WEC GTE looks stronger to me. Also, if you're Porsche, why race in a declining regional championship over the growing world championship for sports cars? Porsche is also using this year as a year to gain experience for their 2014 LMP1 assault. Wouldn't make sense to race in ALMS for this reason alone. |

Also , I know that Porsche have a position invited to ACO meetings , so I guess they were pushing for a world championship . Might look bad not to back one up then .
Now I understand the position behind the last years engine ..... while not pleased about it , the future looks bright . |

Corvette, BMW and Viper are most important teams than Aston Martin. Corvette, BMW, Ferrari, Viper and Porsche are 5 teams, not 3 teams. The ALMS is not regional championship, It have the best GT championship in this moments |

ALMS is a great championship, the main endurance championship in USA (we can't forget USA are the main market for all these brands...). Here we find Corvette, Ferrari, BMW and Chrysler each one with his own works team. ALMS GTE parterre is the best in the endurance panorama. On the other hand, WEC is a world championship, is related to Le Mans 24 hours, and has a good parterre with strong manifacturers such as Porsche, Ferrari and Aston. Then, WEC is going to increase its influence, now is still a young creature. IMHO, the better thing to do for Porsche would have been to race its new RSR in ALMS too, with Flying Lizards and Falken. In WEC, Porsche would have done a better thing givin its new RSR to Manthey and Prospeed. In both these champioship, with such contenders, you must be aggressive. It is basic for marketing, as well as for chances of win. Last edited by Dario911; 27 Mar 2013 at 20:55. |

Risi is a smaller secondary team. AF Corse are the ones who will be racing at Le Mans, they have the big name and better drivers and they run more cars.

BMW aren't even racing Le Mans, and Viper have yet to do anything notable (under their current setup). Aston have been racing at Le Mans more recently and have won their GT class multiple times over the last decade. Quote:

Suppose we will see how the "old engine" affects the new Porsche at Ricard test this week?

Thought I read posts here on 10/10 that the Mezger engine would be utilized for 2014 as well homologation rules. Is that not correct?

One of the stated reasons for running in the WEC was to get the team ready for running the LMP1 in the WEC in 2014. So I would bet it would be more useful for Porsche to go to the tracks the P1 will run at.

I love that they are commemorating the 50 years of the 911. I think the car looks great, but I still haven't figured out the livery.

It looks like Audi's current livery. Hopefully they come up with something else for the P1 car!
Compared to the Falken and even Paul Miller liveries, it just looks kinda boring. |

Looks rather more tame than I expected it to be... Very clean - could this be the low drag LM aero?

The car looks flawless! I hope it may be as fast and reliable as it looks beauty ! Recipe for a winning dish is there... I hope the chefs may do their best!
No numbers about it, but I think they're first of the class numbers! |

erm, anyone worked out what they're attempting to do with that livery yet?
Car look lovely, livery looks like they've aimed for artistic and missed, but could work well in the flesh. |

I think so, too. Asked the same question on another forum. The flaps in the front bumper area are missing, so this could be Le Mans spec. Looks similar to the RSR they tested in Sebring.
