Not the greatest sportscar photo - but possible the luckiest, it was the final shot of a 9 frame burst taken with arms extended and leaning over the pit balcony HOPING I manage to follow the car - quite chuffed when Dindo had the decency to catch fire for me...

Groupc, you could easily have sold that to an agency or magazine, as no one else seems to have a good shot of that incident.
Sorry to sound so mercenary, but that is a truly historic shot that you should be damn proud of! |

I must admit the thought crossed my mind at the time. I was reviewing my photos in the hotel after the race...then I had another beer and the rest is history !
Moments afer I took the shot, the car stopped a few pits up the road and a mechanic (not Audi) ran out with an extinguisher and put it out, Dindo then roared (wrong word, how does one describe that flat noise an R8 makes on the pit limiter?) off without further ado ! Anyway, thank you very much for your kind words. I appreciate your comments. By the way, a bigger version is now online in a small gallery at : http://gallery77405.fotopic.net/c220189.html |

Welcome C5. Autograss would be more than welcome, although you would be better off in the Other/General Motorsport thread. If you want a critique why not start a new thread with a couple of examples or links (400 x 400 pixels max please).

I have a terrific shot sitting on my hard drive at home taken by my good friend Julian Roberts. Same car - same conflagration - a million times better than the out of focus shot which appeared in Autosport after the race. I suggested to Julian that he could well have made a few bob out of it! |

I didn't know the Ferrari's had skirts - I must pay more attention to their underbodies next time I see them........
