So sad. Reading all these tributes has actually made me cry.
Made even worse by the death of 2 very young children. To all the were taken may you rest in peace. To all that are left behind my thoughts & prayers will be with you. |

Heard the news when I got back from Spa yesterday, couldn't believe it.
He was never my particular favorite but I loved to watch him. This guy was pure emotion and gave it all. He left some great memories and we'll hopefully cherish those for a long time, RIP. |

Absolutely horrible, horrible news. It is a tremendously sad time for sport in general - but especially motorsport and rally.
Anyone that has ever had an interest in rally will only ever speak fondly of what McRae brought to the sport - a true competitor, showman, and especially, a gentleman. Nothing but the sincerest condolences to the family and friends of all on board. To think I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Alister this past Friday and Saturday a long way away from his homeland... He will have had a couple of long flights to get home. Words can't describe this... |

Devastating news. Truly a hero and will be sadly missed by all rally and racing fans. The man who bought Subaru into the lives of so many and gave all us Brits something to cheer at.
Rest in Peace. |

Really really terrible news, couldn't believe it.
He really put rallying back on the map for Britain worldwide with his maximum attack all out style that most Finns would be proud of! An extremely rare talent that was proved he was quick in anything. His top line WRC career came to and end before he was ready for it to end which I never understood. Although he was from a family rallying dynasty I think he was also a real one off! Condolences to all his family. |

The reason i got into watching rallying was Coilin Mcrae.
His all or nothing style and how he made the Subarus fly. A Great loss and will be very much missed |

Got back from 2 days at Donington to find this out - utterly gobsmacked.
To think we did have two British world rally champions but now both have gone - before the age of 40 - unbelievable. Thank you for the various links to coverage - reminder of just how good Colin was. I'm not really a rally person but do have memories of him driving an Ascar around Rockingham - totally on the limit (as always) and totally awesome. RIP Colin (and son and the others). Hopefully you and Burnsie will be challenging each other upstairs. Condolences to the McRae family and to the families of the others involved. |
