exactly oz it is great news but, if there was to be an anti climax that was a pretty big one, with all the hype i was expecting something more bigger than that as that has been rumoured for a fair while.

For a minute there I thought your were from Perth, but you are from Adelaide, so what is so poor taste in it? That is nothing compered to some of the jokes getting around. (insert something about bridge building - ) Last edited by Trevor; 14 Nov 2007 at 04:28. |

Labour has already said it would commit the funds if elected, so both have been played off eachother and therefore it happens. Would be good if the release had a quote from someone or anyone in the government.

A Townsville race? Thats it? How lame, I thought it'd be bigger than that.

Meh. Another temporary race track that does nothing to bring new talent along, that puts no permanent infrastructure into the community.
When all the permanent race tracks are gone, where will young people learn to be racing drivers? Then we'll have no racing at all, will we, unless a whole lot of folks come from overseas to race. Keep Adelaide. Make permanent race tracks for the F1 and Champcars to race at - or move the events to permanent facilities. No more street races, please? Anyone remember what a nightmare was Canberra? BFD. Kramer |

I am disappointed, not in the announcement, but in some of the attitudes towards the outcome....
Think about this for a minute... Mr Cochrane and co at VESA have managed another minor coup here.. to take a round of the V8Supercar series to the people in Townsville..... ...but in doing so, enlisting the moral and financial support of the Queensland Labour state government, and the Federal coalition government, and the local Mayoral offices to make it all happen. Sounds like a pretty "significant" announcement to me. And if you thought about the timing of the protocols that would need to be observed, from these three branches of government, from the VESA/TEGA organisations, series sponsors and everyone else with a vested interest, that it didnt happen exactly bang on the hour promised is neither here nor there. Another new event to look forward to, still on the big plot of Earth known as Australia |

Significant? Yes, definitely....
Compared to some of the 'what if's' of the last 7 pages? nah.... |

Or perhaps another income earner for the teams who are not enjoying the same level of largesse from their motor manufacturer partners as that have done in recent years.
Any nail in the coffin in Australian Motorsport can be squarely laid at the door of the local FIA representative, and their inability to progress a forward thinking plan with a commercial outlook to decide the categories that should exist in this country, including the stepping stone to national & international career paths. Bandaiding a solution with the AMSF for tickling of various taxation laws is not necessarily a sustainable solution for the local sport |
